Do-it-yourself ceiling installation

A stretch ceiling differs from a suspended ceiling in that it is mounted around the perimeter of the walls, clinging to a baguette, and the suspended ceiling is mounted to the base ceiling, using a side baguette as an additional mount around the perimeter of the ceiling.

Consider installing suspended ceilings in a simple quadrangular room. The installation process consists of many stages, and will be clear only to those people who are familiar with the construction work, and the construction tool.

First thing we fix a baguette on the walls around the entire perimeter of the room, which is a plastic profile made of duralumin, or hard plastic. The ceiling canvas will cling to the harpoon for this baguette. In order to do this, you must first determine the lowest angle of the base ceiling of the room. Then, from the bottom corner it is measured 1-2 cm and marked with a pencil. The same label with the help of the hydraulic level is transferred to the other corners of the room. Next, take a chopping cord with dye and draw a line to fix the baguette. This is done by installing one end of the cord at the mark in one corner, the other end in the adjacent corner, while the cord should be well tensioned. With your free hand we pull the cord perpendicular to the wall and release. The point is that the stretched cord should slap along the wall and leave a straight line on it from dye to dye on it. This operation must be repeated for all walls of the room, receiving a horizon line along the entire perimeter. This line will be considered the basis for installing the baguette.

Next stage - This is an accurate measurement of the angles of the entire room. Angles are measured using a special tool - a goniometer. After measuring the angles, you can mount the baguette on the walls. To do this, using a tape measure, measure the length of the wall where the rail will be attached. If the wall is shorter in length than the length of the rail, then the rail is sawn at the corners of the pendulum saw, and then mounted on the wall so that the edge of the baguette coincides with the marking of the horizon that was made earlier. If the walls are longer in length than the length of the rail, then the rail is sawn in only one corner.

Then follows the stage deployment and installation of the canvas itself. The canvas comes to the installer in a rolled-up form along with the drawing, on which the base angle is indicated. Unfold the canvas should be from this base angle. Before you begin to unfold the canvas, you must not forget to hang rope loops with crocodiles (spring clamps in the form of ticks) in the corners of the room. After that, open the base corner of the canvas and cling to the harpoon with a “crocodile”. As the canvas unfolds, all new angles open, which cling to the crocodiles in the corners of the room corresponding to them. When the canvas is deployed and hooked, it must be warmed to the desired level. Warm up possible using a heat gun.

After the canvas is sufficiently warmed up, it is installed in a baguette from any corner you have chosen. After engaging the corners, it follows the fixing of straight sections of the canvas around the perimeter. Next, the quality of its fit to the baguette is checked. And the last operation is the installation of a lamp or chandelier on your stretch ceiling.
