The most regular consumer of electricity at home is the refrigerator. It is obvious that in the warm season it is constantly connected to the electric network. But with the onset of frost, you can refuse his services, which will save energy. City dwellers do this so often, putting food and cooked food on the balconies, in the loggia, or hanging them (which is possible, of course) in the string bags outside the window.
However, storing products on an unglazed balcony or outside a window has other disadvantages in addition to “operational” inconveniences. So, protection from birds, precipitation (rain and snow), as well as from strong gusts of wind, which can tear a string bag from a nail, is required. And the human factor here has to be taken into account. After all, if you only have the second floor ... (Somehow, my father decided to dry the roach and hung it out the window. Indeed, in such a loggia the temperature is 7 ... 10 ° C higher than on the street.
In a word, I advise having a loggia or balcony (glazed or not) to arrange in the latter a winter refrigeration chamber (Fig.). And how to install it, let's look at the example of the construction of such a camera in a glazed loggia.
For this, first of all, it is necessary to cut a transverse wooden lath into the lower part of one of the glazed sections of the frame at a distance of about 400 mm from the lower beam of the frame. We will insert our refrigerating chamber into the formed opening. The basis of the latter is a metal frame, in which the top, as well as the side and rear walls are closed with some sheet material: plywood, aluminum or galvanized iron. The bottom of the camera is made of thick 8 ... 10 mm plywood or boards. The frame is assembled on screws or rivets from an aluminum or steel corner with a shelf width of about 20 mm. Of course, the frame is securely attached to the "loggia" frame.
For ventilation, holes are drilled in the side walls of the chamber, the diameter of which eliminates the possibility of penetration of birds into the "room". If the refrigerator is located on the sunny side, it is advisable to insulate its walls with foam.The refrigerator compartment is isolated from the loggia room by a transom or door. Such a camera takes the temperature of the outside air and in the cold period reliably ensures the safety of perishable products. By the way, if you do not have a loggia, such a camera can also be installed in the kitchen window.
Only when constructing an outdoor refrigerator, consider the following:
■ It is better to install a refrigerator in loggias and on balconies overlooking the courtyard. Their appearance on the facades of houses overlooking the central busy streets can be met by a misunderstanding of local authorities and is potentially dangerous for passers-by. Mounting the camera in the opening of the kitchen window is fraught with difficulties in sealing the opening and will not improve the kitchen interior;
■ the design of the chamber must be reliable and exclude the possibility of destruction from gusts of wind, precipitation and the severity of the products placed in the chamber.
