We build a well in the country with our own hands

How to build a well do it yourself? How deep should it be? How to choose the best place for a well? These and other questions related to the arrangement of the well will be answered by this article.

Is there water on the site?

This is the main issue that should be addressed first. Lucky if there are wells in neighboring yards. You can see the depth of the wells and ask the neighbors about all the nuances of the occurrence of water reservoirs in these places. If there is no well in the vicinity, exploration of the depth of the water must be carried out by drilling.

After drilling a well or obtaining the required information from neighbors, you can calculate the depth of the future well and the nature of the soil that you will encounter during construction.

Well water quality

There must be ground water in the well. Its depth is about 30 m. Such water can be used for drinking, in contrast to the high water, which lies higher and is formed by precipitation. At the same time, groundwater is not under pressure as artesian.

It is worth noting that it is recommended to start digging a well in autumn or winter. In spring, the groundwater level rises, and if you dig a well during this period, then in summer you can be left without water.

Well shaft construction

The easiest way to build a well in home conditions is the use of concrete rings. The most optimal diameter of the ring is 1.1 m., On the outer edge and 1 m., On the inside. Rings of this size are easier to lower. In addition, it will be convenient to raise water from the well.

Concrete rings are lowered into the shaft gradually. That is, having dug a hole about 1 m. Deep, it is necessary to lower one ring. Then continue digging the mine. Under the weight of their own weight, the rings themselves will sag. All subsequent rings also drop gradually. They are installed butt to butt on each other. With the help of metal staples, additional fixation of the rings to each other is carried out. Such work should be carried out before the discovery of the water reservoir.

The rings can be lowered into the finished shaft. However, this method is considered more dangerous, because there is a risk of soil collapse.

One person cannot dig a well. He will need an assistant who will stand upstairs and get the soil out of the mine. To raise the land, they arrange a special structure similar to a tripod or a winch. With the help of such a design, a bucket of earth will rise to the top.

Well Equipment

Water that appears at the bottom of the well will be dirty. To clean it, work will be required to equip the bottom filter.

First of all, it is necessary to pump out all the water, and then deepen the shaft by about 20 cm. After completing these works, the bottom of the well is laid with a layer of river sand followed by small gravel and at the end there is large gravel. Before laying, rubble should be thoroughly washed with a solution of bleach and running water. If the bottom of the well is not solid enough, it is recommended to strengthen it with wooden flooring.

Water from the well should be pumped out within two weeks. At this time, it can only be used for technical needs. After that, the water goes to the laboratory. If the answer from the laboratory is yes, you can drink water.

Additional well protection

After the mine is dug, the well needs protection from precipitation and the overhead. From the overhead you need a clay castle. To install it, you will need to dig a well to a depth of 1 m. Clay is poured into the recess and rammed. A ramp from the ground part of the well is also equiped from it.

A wooden blockhouse is usually installed on the ground part of the well. It is better that he be with a roof and doors that will close the mine. So the well will be protected not only from dirt and rainfall, but also from various animals and rodents. These safety measures are also required for children.

..People! A landslide is scary !!! A person will die immediately, crushed by the weight of sand !!!

Thank you Valery, a very instructive example. But some may argue, in the well they say rings, they protect against landslides ?! This is all naivety and a flagrant violation of safety precautions. Especially work alone !!!
How does this happen when digging wells ?! I will describe conditionally.
Everything seems to be going well, the rings are in place, with gaskets and a quote. You take out another portion of the earth and send it to the surface. When space (below) is freed up under a stack of rings, the rings under their own weight (as a rule) drop below, and a new ring is added from above. And now, once again with this lowering, part of the rings freezes (due to distortions, etc.), the monolith of the foot breaks, a target appears in which the quicksand rushes at a high speed (liquid suspension of water, clay and sand), with read second you will be buried. This is only one case, and there are a lot of them in the construction of wells.
The author of this topic talks about fastening rings with brackets (and that's it), this is also an important question, not everyone does it (considering it is optional) and how to do it? To do this, the rings should be able to do this. Otherwise, all that is dead poultice.
Was once in the Khotyn fortress, near Kamenetz-Podolsk. There is a well of 60-70 meters and a diameter of meter 3. How did they dig it in those days? At such a depth it is hard to breathe and work accordingly. But there are also deeper wells.
The worst thing is when you fail. It happens very quickly that you won’t even have time to get out.

... There simply will not be time to get out - you will die immediately !!!
I also neglected this danger, believing that a person who had been flooded with earth was still alive for a long time and could be saved until I tried it "in my own skin" ...
.... In the summer cottage there was an old well, which "air". The hand pump could pump (although if you didn’t pump, the water left), and the hydrophore was “airy”. I realized that the steel pipe was rotten by water level, as is often the case. I decided to dig to the maximum depth, cut the pipe (forty) and run 32 PVC in it.To the house there is a meter 4, there is a basement, depth, relative to ground level, 1.6 m. So I dug an inclined ditch to the well, there it was deepened by about 2.5 m, cut the pipe. I decided to put a tee with valves below, and raise one pipe up for the hand pump, take the second to the basement and put the hydrophore there.
Soil - fine wet sand. Dug lightly. And now I'm squatting downstairs and tightening the tees. Tightened ... and then ... UX-X-X !!!! ... A huge "lens" fell off the edge of the trench and fell over my neck !!!! ...
...People!!! That's horrible!!! I never thought that the sand is so heavy and that it is so "compacted" in a collapse !!! A strong exhalation kicked out of me from the blow, but I couldn’t inhale !!! He didn’t give sand, heavily squeezed chest !!! I began to choke, it began to get dark in my eyes !!! He started to break with all his might !! Slightly able to "loosen" around the chest. Only in such a way that I could not breathe fully. But for some time I caught my breath, ceased to feel dizzy .... Raised his eyes, HORROR !!! The earth hangs above me at the very top, and my side fell out. If the top collapses - I am END !!! I only have a head and shoulders above! The thought of screaming for neighbors to hear immediately fell away: the neighbor would come to the edge, and I would be done !!! And he may not even understand where I was screaming from ....
... Head, mouth, quietly gradually digging out sand! Somehow he released one hand. Things went faster ... He released the second ... But a problem arose - there was nowhere to throw the earth away. I began to pour back. Behind the back there was a trench, leaving for the house, when digging, dug across it some kind of long rusty piece of iron. She remained across the trench. Reached, arched back, grabbed his hands, began to pull himself up ... It did not work, did not have enough strength. I dug with one hand to the lower abdomen and unbuttoned zhinsa. Only in this way could I get myself out of them. They, along with rubber boots, were left to descendants)))) When I got out, I finally collapsed the trench !!!
....People! A landslide is scary !!! A person will die immediately, crushed by the weight of sand !!!
Forgot to add. Thrown because water with gasoline.
By the way, at the expense of approval
One person cannot dig a well.
I do not agree. I saw a craftsman lifting device. He was digging below, and the bucket rose on a winch and was laid aside. There she turned over and came back. Managed everything from the well. And it was in the 90s, when there were none of those. devices as of now.
An interesting comment. Each area has its own tricks. we have the majority digging without rings (lower then). Then not every well has drinking water. Nowadays, most need to set filters. Although they do not help. Digging near the tank farm. Air was pumped by a compressor, dug in gas masks. Water was needed for the production of chips. thrown at 40 meters. Also in the area of the airfield. One well passed a small quicksand. Quicksand went after the stone, there was something to catch on. Reinforced poured a little and then dug. In general, everyone has their own secrets. It has long been, now the materials are different, and the technology.
How many craftsmen, so many methods of digging wells. As well as "theories" and the names of the location of soil, aquifers.
If you have no idea about this, even after reading the seemingly “chewed” material, taking it is not safe. Moreover, there is not a word about this in the submitted article.
The worst thing is when you fail. It happens very quickly that you won’t even have time to get out. Of course it’s more convenient and safer to make a well. But there are places where only the well will save. This is where there is practically no (clay for example) or very little water in the ground. The well "takes" due to the volume of "strained" water.
Offset. My friend is digging wells, the blind area should not be tied to the ring, only through the sliding layer. And drinking water can go after the first clay layer
Usually it’s a pity for time to comment, but here something is hooked.I have been digging wells for a quarter of a century, I don’t like when people are misled.
The depth of the well can be from 1 ring bank of the river. Svir to 40 rings p.Kanista. (there are my wells).
High water to the water (clay, loam) from a few centimeters to tens of meters (in the sand). The primer is the second layer of water. It may not be. The vodka, passing through the thickness of the sand, is cleaned, disinfected and saturated with all the necessary trace elements.
Ground water can sometimes flow above ground level (example fountains in Peterhof, gravity pond water)
Size of reinforced concrete rings 1600x1000x900, marking КС 1.0-0.9. Weight 650 kg.
First, dig a hole in a cylindrical shape, with a diameter of 1300 and a depth of not more than half a meter. Roll the ring to the edge and gently tilt it down to the bottom. Digging is also about 1300 in diameter, leaving the “nickles” one opposite the other (these are the protrusions, for temporary fixation of the shaft, will make it possible to choose soil in the behind the pipe space. The thickness of each of the “nickels” is about 30 cm, the protrusion inside the shaft is about 15 cm. Then they are carefully cut, starting from the bottom to the top. It’s not worthwhile to go deeper, not to a professional on five-copeck points, deeper than 0.5 meters).
When the ring drops to ground level, roll the next one, be sure to grout. To prevent the mortar from knocking out of the seam during rollover, lay 5 - 6 bars in a circle to soften the blow. With the help of installation they are easily removed. Immediately put the brackets 3 pcs. on the seam (they are placed only inside, if it is necessary to dismantle the mine, they are easily pulled out with a winch). It happens that “experts” say that the brackets should be placed only on the outside, so that there is no rust in the water!) As if there was one water in the well, and the other outside!
The wiggle time of the well is determined only by the presence of transparent water: from 5 min. to infinity!)
The bottom filter consists of coarse-grained sand - it can be called whatever: sea, alluvial, river, Martian, it does not matter, the main thing is that the coarse fraction (this is used to prepare concrete or mortar) will not last longer. Crushed stone of any fraction, its function is to compact the sand so that there is no suspension in the water. To facilitate further cleanings, the best fraction is 5x10. Sand and gravel there is no need to etch in bleach, it is washed during pumping. And it’s better to fill in two bags of Shungit instead of rubble. It will kill bacteria and activate water.
The blind area in the picture is not made correctly, when the soil freezes, the upper ring will tear off, regardless of the staples, and dirt with frogs and mice will flow through the seam! Before pouring the solution, you just need to wrap the ring in two layers with roofing material.
The finishing procedure is the smearing of the seams, not only with liquid glass (these are our smaller brothers love to do!) But with modern eco-friendly materials, such as Hydrotex or Hydrolast.
And drink to your health! / Div>
