Each car owner with horror awaits the onset of winter colds. Still, winter is a cold cabin in which it is impossible to warm up, eternal problems with an engine that refuses to start, and constant difficulties with frozen door locks.
But there is a way out - insulation auto do it yourself. It takes only a little effort, and your car will serve you faithfully even in the most severe frosts.
Let's start with engine insulation. For this kind of work, you can use foam rubber or polyethylene coated with foil, or, and this is the best choice, according to experts, use foam insulation for car insulation.
Penofol is a foamed polyethylene coated with foil. This material is non-toxic, non-combustible, easy to install, it is an excellent sound and vapor insulator, and in addition, it has a high heating temperature.
So, having decided on the material, we proceed to the insulation work. First, remove the patterns from the inside of the hood of our car, measuring its size. After we transfer this pattern to the penofol prepared in advance, and carefully cut out the part we need with a simple clerical knife or scissors. And finally, using a special moisture-resistant glue, we install the part cut out of penofol from the inside of the hood so that the side covered with the foil is outside.
After half an hour of work, we have an insulated engine, making it much easier to start the car. In addition, a pleasant advantage of the hood insulation is that the engine will become much quieter due to the soundproofing properties of penofol.
Now it is the turn of the interior of our car. For its insulation, in addition to the penofol itself, we will need: sealant, special glue, a stapler with brackets and rubber seals for car doors.
First, you need to disconnect the side panels from the car doors and pull out the seats from the passenger compartment, for greater convenience during further work. Next, it is necessary to dismantle the roof lining and replace the seals on the doors of the car.
Having completed these actions, it is time to proceed to the preparation of patterns for our insulation. To do this, take "measurements" from all sections of the machine where the installation of insulation is planned, such as a roof or floor, and transfer the obtained dimensions to the insulation. Next, with a clerical knife, we cut out parts of the sizes we need and go on to preparing the floor.
We thoroughly clean the car floor and treat all available cracks with a sealant, after which we begin the installation of insulation. To do this, we install penofol on the floor of the car using the previously prepared glue, strengthen it with a stapler and leave it until it dries completely.
While the floor dries, we proceed to the insulation of the doors. Car door insulation is carried out according to the same principle as floor insulation.
To do this, we paste over pre-prepared door surfaces with a foam foil, wait for the glue to completely dry, and turn the door trim removed previously into place.
The final stage of warming the inside of the car will be the car roof insulation, which is carried out in the same way as the floor and door insulation - we apply glue to the roof surface of the car, glue the prepared pre-foam foam pattern on top and strengthen it with brackets from the stapler for reliability. After the glue dries, we return the ceiling sheathing in place, strengthening it with the same stapler and staples.
After completing all work on the insulation of the passenger compartment, dry it again, return to the previously dismantled seats and floor mats.
