This all-terrain vehicle unlike other similar machines, it was not made from scratch, but had a standard as a basis model vaz 2109. However, despite this, the author managed to achieve the necessary qualities and created an excellent buggy.
Materials and assemblies used in the construction of the all-terrain vehicle:
1) The body and most of the details of the vaz 2109
2) metal profile
3) muffler from cherry amulet
4) Hubs from Niva
5) brake discs from the cornfield
6) wheel bearings
7) Two external grenades from the cornfield
8) anthers from vaz 2109
9) a sheet of iron 5 mm thick
10) reinforced ball
11) wheels from a cornfield
12) sheet org. glass
13) transfer box from the cornfield
14) factory leverage from the fields
Consider in more detail the stages of construction of an all-terrain vehicle.
Initially, the author got the usual nine, with which he began to experiment.
To start, the VAZ 2109 standard was turned into a convertible:
And the whole summer the author traveled on it in this form, but since the car was rather shabby, it could not stand such an operation and the rear beam was torn off along with part of the spar.
However, this did not upset the author and he decided to build something more unusual and interesting from it.
To do this, he dragged the car into garage and began to modernize it.
First of all, the author decided to work on the car body, as the whole is too heavy. Therefore, picking up the grinder, he separated the excess parts from the car.
A metal profile and welding were also used to make the roll cage in return for the sawn parts.
Then, due to insufficient experience in welding, the author encountered a problem when welding a standard muffler from a VAZ 2109, in the end the author abandoned this venture and installed the middle part of the muffler from a cherry amulet.
What took only half an hour of time:
Then the author began work on the bridges, installing the transfer case from the Niva, finalizing the gearbox, as well as a small engine repair from the VAZ 2109.
All this is mounted with a reinforced frame, which stands on an independent suspension, on four rotary fists of a cornfield. levers were taken factory, which underwent a little processing.
Suspension travel according to the author’s calculations should be 40 centimeters.
After the assembly and installation of the main structural elements, the all-terrain vehicle was tested on forest roads, where the all-terrain vehicle showed excellent handling, cross-country ability and speed characteristics.
Riding after the rain on a wet track, the author came to the conclusion that the car needs to install rear mudguards. For these purposes, plastic fenders were used from the same vaz 2109:
In this form, the all-terrain vehicle was run in one season, after which the author made the following conclusions:
Driving on roads after rain left much to be desired, the reason for this was the fact that the front of the all-terrain vehicle was very quickly buried. It is also necessary to make a normal gas tank instead of the canister used, since the fuel is not enough for very long and there is no tightness, which is why the canister leaked on uneven surfaces.
Also, for installation on an all-terrain vehicle, the hubs from the cornfield were turned to the size of nine bearings. Disc brakes and anthers were installed, and brake adapters were made from a five millimeter sheet of iron. Also, the author proceeded to install reinforced ball on an all-terrain vehicle.
Also on the all-terrain vehicle wheels from the cornfield were installed:
Since the standard windshield was broken in a small accident, a new one was made from a sheet of org. glass, which was fixed with sealant and screws. And also the wings and a bumper are removed from the car.
Here are photos of the all-terrain vehicle after all the major improvements:
As you may have noticed, due to the not quite identical design of mounting the wheel from the cornfield, it was necessary to install the reverse side. Although at first the author thought about installing the coasters, but it turned out too long, moreover, this was reflected in the budget of the car.
In the future, the author wants to solve the problem by radically changing the rack of the car and remaking the entire suspension of the all-terrain vehicle.
Also, for safety, it is planned to install four-point seat belts.
Despite the fact that the hubs were weakened after turning, they completely cope with the loads, that with the lateral, that with the weight that falls on two bearings.
Here is the front suspension, which has undergone minimal changes:
In the future, it is planned to create a home-made upper arm according to the A-shaped wide model, and in the center place a suspension strut from the vases 2108.
Also, the author is engaged in the study of documentation and forums regarding the installation of CV joints on off-road buggies.
The possibility of abandoning independent suspension in favor of UAZ bridges, or creating a suspension of the Mazurkevich type, is being considered.
