Light three-wheeled karakat


The author has been manufacturing light three-wheeled karakats for about two years now. Initially, the author was going to make a three-wheeled moped with increased cross-country ability, but then decided to do it for sale and accordingly build on the wishes of customers. Therefore, a similar machine was born, not of large dimensions, but with a powerful engine. The weight of the all-terrain vehicle under 200 kilograms, which allows you to easily transport and store it.

Materials and parts used to build this model of an all-terrain vehicle:

Consider in more detail the stages of construction of an all-terrain vehicle.

To begin with, the all-terrain vehicle scheme was thought out and the main ways of the development of the car were determined. The author immediately abandoned the idea of ​​chain transmission, more because of reliability. Alloy wheels of 15 inches were purchased, they are certainly heavier than homemade ones, but they are much more reliable and look better.

After defining the basic concept, as well as selecting materials, the author proceeded to turning work on the details of the all-terrain vehicle.

A four-speed CVT was prepared from a 150 cubic meter scooter. It is convenient in that it easily adjusts both the working speed and the clutch speed. Similarly, such CVTs are installed on engines with power up to 14 hp. therefore, there should be no problems.

Then the author began work on the rear axle of the all-terrain vehicle, as well as turning work on the cones:

The seat was made of plastic according to standard technology: the mold is smeared with wax, then fiber glass is laid on it, which is impregnated with resin, and so on in several layers.

The native carburetor showed itself poorly, so a tractor launcher was installed, which added almost two times the power to the all-terrain vehicle. CVT works great in second gear all-terrain vehicle able to slip and even drift. The maximum speed for second gear is 40 kilometers per hour. In the fourth gear, the all-terrain vehicle starts off very smoothly and accelerates well, but at speeds above 50 km per hour, it becomes difficult to control, so the author did not experience maximum speeds.

The Soviet analogue of the Mikuni 22 mm, on the carburetor there is a button from the bottom, which is convenient when planting an all-terrain vehicle:


The all-terrain vehicle frame was made from a 32 mm corner. a meter of a corner weighs about 1.2 kilograms, and a square meter of a 25 by 2 mm pipe weighs 1.1 kilograms. That is, if desired, it would be possible to reduce the weight of Karkat, but the author decided to make the frame more reliable and strong.


The carburetor is used from the launcher. It starts up fine, it works well in both minimum and maximum modes, but it jumbled on the transition, it took two days to refine it to mind:

The speed limiter was also disabled before installing the engine.

For the manufacture of wheels was used conveyor belt. Its edges were cut 12 segments, and 13 left for gluing, and then were screwed to the disk with an overlap on each other. It was glued along the running in the overlap of 20 centimeters. rear tires made of single-layer cord + running. got a cord with rubber in three millimeters. For better grip, the tires were fitted with straps.

In karting, the engines are boosted to 19 hp, but according to the author’s calculations, if you force this engine, only the block will remain from the native one, which means that you will need to increase the cost of the engine, and there the variator will have to be replaced with a more powerful one, so it makes sense to increase the power engine is thus small, it is easier to buy another engine.

The ratio of pulleys from the gearbox to the variator is 1 to three. In general, the all-terrain vehicle is used in first gear in difficult off-road conditions, and on a flat road at maximum. The gear ratio of the main pair is 4.1.

Wheel flanges were used for the cone, but if you do not use the cone, but simply do it on the key, then there will not be much difference.

The only thing that will need to be ensured is the absence of backlashes, that is, either tighten the terminal, or drill through and insert a strong bolt as a fastener, the main thing is to bring it out so that the place does not work on a break.

The bearings are mounted on the bushings, and the bushings are mounted on the shaft. Thus, it turns out that tightening the nut on the sleeve, thereby it is unclenched on the shaft, but the bushings must keep the shaft from displacement:
