An unpretentious small barbecue, welded from ordinary iron, can be bought for 300 rubles. But if you are not satisfied with this simple design, towering on shaky legs, try to build a solid handsome brazier from a beer barrel. To implement this project, you will need a beer keg (professionals call it “keg”) with a volume of 50 liters, made of cold-drawn stainless steel. The main difference between your man-made grill and its store counterpart will be the presence of a lid on it, which will allow you to cook on it not only traditional barbecue, but also other variations of grilled meat on charcoal.
Operating procedure
1. Take the keg and along the vertical axis apply markings for the future cut on the cylinder walls. With a large grinder with a blade diameter of 230 mm, according to the markup, cut the barrel into two equal halves.
2. Place one half horizontally on supports made of thick steel strip.
3. From the other half of the keg, make the brazier cover, for this, attach it with ordinary door hinges to the half-base.
4. From thick, 8-mm metal rods, build a grill for the barbecue, the dimensions of which should correspond to the size of the base. To make the rods convenient to boil to the rim, clamp them with clamps.
5. To prevent the brazier body from overheating and easy to clean, make a removable coal tray, which should easily enter the main body.
6. In both halves of the barbecue, make ventilation holes. This will increase traction and allow air circulation inside the furnace.
7. The barbecue grill is ready!
8. Look carefully at the photo, and you will understand how to make a shutter from below, with which you can adjust the draft.
9. In the lid of the grill, the ventilation holes must be closed with inserts from a perforated metal sheet.
10. Additional useful device - A rectangular baking tray for collecting fat, which is set directly under the cooking meat. In this case, the coals are laid around this baking sheet, so meat juice and fat do not fill them.
