All-terrain vehicle 6x6 "poepuhokhod"


Another all-terrain vehicle with a tipping frame, but this time with three axles. A lot of the all-terrain vehicle was created by the author himself, a gearbox, a transfer case. The author was in no hurry to use the proven methods of creating an all-terrain vehicle, as he made it for his own specific needs. All terrain vehicle it was originally planned to be not the most passable, since the author is not fond of either hunting or fishing, therefore the car will only drive on soils of medium cross-country ability and will not be used in harsh conditions. The all-terrain vehicle itself is designed to carry two three people and a small load.

Materials, parts and assemblies used in the construction of this machine:
1) Tires OI-25 lightweight
2) Gearbox from Oka car
3) bridges from a classic vase
4) Internal combustion engine from an oka car
5) profile metal pipe and corners
6) CV joint from the Niva
7) pump from vw t4
8) gas cylinder from gas-66

Let us consider in more detail the stages of construction of an all-terrain vehicle, as well as the design of the main components.

The gearbox for the all-terrain vehicle was assembled by the author independently and adjusted to a gear ratio of 2.51.

The bridges of the all-terrain vehicle were assembled and prepared for installation, the main bridges were from the classic vase:



Then the author began to build the base of the all-terrain vehicle, on which the very bridges and other basic elements were fixed:

From the photographs of the bridge, you could notice that it was made as a passage. Unfortunately, this design could not work, during the first tests, the teeth on the shank were broken. Therefore, the author had to redo and replace part of the designs. In the process of finalization, the middle and rear axles were moved away by 28 centimeters. Also, the author began to create a transfer case of a home-made design, which will be installed between the bridges.

After major improvements, the all-terrain vehicle was again tested. The maximum speed on a flat surface was about 30 kilometers per hour, which is quite enough for the author, although the all-terrain vehicle is capable of more, but then it becomes not comfortable to drive it. The course of the rail is fully engaged and when you turn the wheel you can’t hear the sound of the motor, but most likely the load should be. Perhaps the author will install a pump from the UAZ to improve the steering.

A propeller shaft was made on the transfer case, which is installed between the bridges of the all-terrain vehicle. After cutting the slots, the transfer case will be fully assembled, as well as the middle bridge of the all-terrain vehicle.

After work on the transmission and the basic structures of the all-terrain vehicle, the author proceeded to create the frame of the cabin and the kung of the all-terrain vehicle. To create the frame, welding and a profile pipe were used.

Then the author proceeded to full-scale testing of the design of the all-terrain vehicle. During testing, the following shortcomings were identified: standing still to turn the steering wheel is very difficult, there is too much load on the fist, which he could not stand and the frame broke on its own.

To fix and solve the second problem, the author installed two trimmed springs from the VAZ 2109 under the middle bridge of the all-terrain vehicle, and four tips were put on the frame fracture assembly to relieve the load from the UAZ fist.

Also, the author thought about installing a hydraulic power steering, possibly not even hydrostatic. Since the biaxial all-terrain vehicle of the tipping type develops evenly, and the triaxial one has to weld the front frame, the control is not the easiest. that is why hydraulics is simply necessary in the design of the all-terrain vehicle.

The center of the frame shifts by only two millimeters due to the not very precise welding of the fastening of the tips to the frame fracture assembly.

After major improvements, the author again began to test the machine and this time it proved to be worthy. Damage was not observed, when cornering, the tips move freely with your hands, and when twisting them they bite a little. The tips are installed from the oka, so it may be worthwhile to make something a little stronger, or to strengthen the fasteners with a lot of welding.

The author also examines the fracture node on the ball, which should be more reliable in a large all-terrain vehicle.
In the meantime, the flange has been replaced with a more reinforced one, which is enough.

Then the author installed a gas cylinder from gas-66, where the rail is used as a spool. the whole system is powered by a pump from vw t4. After this modernization, the steering wheel began to spin in place without much effort, there was no load on the engine. the only drawback is that it turns to the side with slight twitches, but this is more likely due to the characteristics of the triaxial concept of the tipping frame.

After all the basic modifications, the author took up the appearance of the car.
