All-terrain vehicle

All terrain vehicle mini rhombus is equipped with all-wheel drive, as well as a frame of a design of a tipping type. Creating this car, the author wanted first of all to make a light and compact all-terrain vehicle. The all-terrain vehicle was created for sale, as the author is professionally engaged in the creation of various types of equipment for difficult roads.

To create this all-terrain vehicle, the author needed the following materials and mechanisms:
1) Lifan internal combustion engine with a capacity of 15 hp
2) Gearbox from an oka car
3) Bridges from a classic vase
4) Bel-79 cameras
5) Disks from Andrey (Vologda)
6) profile pipe 20 to 40
7) safari variator
8) CV joint from the cornfield
9) axis from oki
10) steering from vaz 2108
11) tires OI-25

Consider in more detail the design of the all-terrain vehicle and its main components.

The all-terrain vehicle fracture assembly was designed by Uvat.
The all-terrain vehicle frame was assembled by the author independently from a profile pipe measuring 20 by 40 mm.


The transmission has one weak point between the CVT and gearbox. To create this connection, a short axis was taken from the car of the Oka, as well as two CV joints from the Niva transfer case, as well as flanges from a classic vase. A spline from the clutch disc was welded into one of the flanges, and it is in this place that it is necessary to make an additional bearing stop, since it does not provide the reliability so necessary for this design.

To eliminate the drawback, the author decided to make a plate according to the drawings of the connecting dimensions of the gearbox from oki.

As you can see in the photos, the driven variator pulley is located approximately in the middle of the bridge beam. This creates a danger when passing water barriers, tall grass or peat pits when dirt and water get on the variator belt, which is naturally not desirable. That is why the pulley was protected by a sealed boat in the engine compartment, and it was lowered in order to reduce the angle of inclination of the driveshaft of the gearbox.

A sealed CVT case with ventilation in squares was also made. The dimensions of the all-terrain vehicle itself were as follows: three meters long 25 centimeters, and a width of 185 centimeters.
The frame of the all-terrain vehicle was made, which the author began to sheathe with a metal sheet:


After weighing, the mass of the machine, which is equal to 580 kilograms, became known exactly, which means that the machine will weigh 630 kilograms on peeled Bel-79 cameras. That is, the car turns out to be quite heavy, despite the original concept. But the author still does not intend to sacrifice reliability for the sake of light weight.

Thanks to the variator's protection by a sealed boat from dirt and water, the all-terrain vehicle is not afraid of deep snow. Therefore, the all-terrain vehicle easily goes through the snow in third gear. A power of 15 horsepower is enough.

The steering was used from the VAZ 2108, it shows itself well despite the size of the wheels of the all-terrain vehicle.
Bel-79 cameras were replaced by oi-25, due to which the all-terrain vehicle’s clearance became 50 centimeters and now no logs and hemp cause problems for the all-terrain vehicle.

However, due to the fact that the center of mass has shifted higher, the all-terrain vehicle almost rolled over on a steep slope, but here it was rather a driver’s mistake and an aggressive driving style.


In any case, after this, the author thought about installing a power safety cage, although now there is a limitation of the tipping node on the chains. Perhaps it should also be made rigid, so that when you insert a metal finger, you can prevent twisting of the axles of the all-terrain vehicle. Although these improvements will significantly increase the mass of the all-terrain vehicle, therefore, the author is in no hurry with their implementation.
