Screw wind turbine with PVC blades
The author tried to give the turbine a Savonius profile by bending the blades on the mandrel using a building hair dryer.
PVC blades
The creation began with the idea of building a meter-long wind turbine. Using PVC pipes with a diameter of 40 mm, the author needed 30 blades to achieve a 180 degree turn, which implied that the height would be within 1.4 meters.
The photo shows how you can mark the cut pipes along. Set two dots 180 degrees apart. Wrap a pipe with a sheet of paper and secure it. Align the joint of the folded sheet with one of the points. Mark the second point from the other end of the joint. Now connect these two points on the pipe.
It is necessary to cut 30 sections with a length of 0.5 m. All must be marked before cutting. Each section should be cut in half lengthwise.
The tools that were used: a jigsaw, a small drilling machine, so that it was possible to drill mounting holes to the axis perpendicularly. A small tool that allows you to cut the PVC pipe along and prevents it from slipping.
