All-terrain vehicle "Lunokhod-1"


This all-terrain vehicle can carry up to four passengers with cargo. Also, the car keeps well afloat and is able to overcome rivers and ponds. During construction, the author paid special attention to the weight of the all-terrain vehicle. The result was a very light machine, as demonstrated in the video clip at the end of the article.

Materials and assemblies used to create this machine:

1) Engine from a motorcycle Suzuki 250 cc water-cooled.
2) reverse gear
3) pump NSh 100
4) gears and shaft from the T-25 tractor
5) profile pipe
6) the body from the tractor
7) gears and shaft from the t-25 tractor
8) stars with 15 teeth and less

Consider in more detail the design of the all-terrain vehicle.

The bridges were rigidly attached to the frame of the all-terrain vehicle. The pressure in the wheels varies from 90 to 120 tonometers, depending on road conditions.

Thanks to the reverse gear, the all-terrain vehicle has 6 speeds both in front and back.

The body of the all-terrain vehicle is made of duralumin, and was taken from a tractor. the design of the oil pump nsh-100 was slightly modernized.

The gears and shaft from the T-25 tractor were used, of which the design was made. There are two holes in the housing from which the shaft exits to the front propeller shaft and back to the rear. On the sides there are two covers, in one of which there is a knob for switching forward, backward and neutral. A shaft with a star goes to another cover.

More details about the all-terrain engine: four-cycle water-cooled, four cylinders with a volume of 250 cubic centimeters. Also included is an electric starter and reverse gear, which allows you to shift 6 gears forward and backward.

The rear wall of the body can be lowered on cables parallel to the ground, which allows you to transport long loads, such as logs. the all-terrain vehicle performs the bulk of the work in the first three gears, while in third gear it accelerates up to 60 kilometers on a flat surface. Since the all-terrain vehicle does not have a cab, driving faster is dangerous and uncomfortable.

In the future, it is planned to install springs and shock absorbers to mitigate impacts at high speeds.

With an all-terrain vehicle load of four passengers, a driver and a small load, the car plunges just above the body floor.

The engine was wearing the smallest star, as well as the reverse lowers and made lowering on the bridges of the all-terrain vehicle.
Although the speed is pretty high anyway, and a CVT like a safari will probably be installed in the future.

Also, the author decided to remove the standard carburetor, as it is designed for stationary operation. And the all-terrain vehicle uses variable mode.

A brake drum was installed, which is quite visible on the left side of the reverse. The pads with the mechanism do not yet need to be installed.

When the liner fits into the cylinder, the liner cuts off the cylinder walls at the very bottom of the landing, or when casting the cylinder there remains an area whose edges are directed towards the piston and go into the liner, therefore, scratches can be seen on the piston skirt, although the engine is static.

Since the flake in places is very weak and the pieces fall into the pallet, we had to remove them with tweezers, in order to avoid friction of the piston.

A similar modernization method is also being considered: to take the bridge and one and a half main transmission from a classic vase. then weld large gears to the shaft and put two bearings on this shaft. At the ends of the shaft, make splines and mount the cardan shafts. The body of the structure can be made of a pipe or stocking from a classic vase. The result is a shaft that has a stroke directly in the bearings, to which either the left or right gear is supplied, which are responsible for front and rear, in the middle of the structure there will be a neutral gear.

During testing, the following was noticed, after installing a star on the shaft with 15 teeth, the clutch began to junk. the engine runs normally, but the clutch is warming and skidding, probably it is not designed for heavy equipment. Therefore, the author of the star was replaced, and the springs were shortened in the clutch and the weights were increased. After these frauds, the all-terrain vehicle again began to work normally.

The only negative is that an all-terrain vehicle does not go especially well with a small star. I had to unfasten the thrust and spring from the crab, temporarily connect the wire, after which the revs appeared again, and the engine began to work better.

The downside of centrifugal clutch is that the all-terrain vehicle delivers power only at high engine speeds. that is, only at high speed, and in the forest or on difficult sections of the track, when the speed is very low, it becomes difficult. Nevertheless, mechanical clutch with the box is better and more universal in this regard. To improve patency at low speeds, the author decided to rearrange the thrust of the regulator, since idle speeds are better with him. as well as the circuit will be duplicated by a mechanical drive.

Perhaps the cause of the problems lies in the small diameter of the clutch discs, it is for this reason that the discs can normally be pressed only at high speeds. At low revolutions, the disks are pressed loosely, from which the slip occurs. If this is the reason, then even the weights will not help, since the clutch is simply not designed for this type of equipment. The variator will also not be able to solve the problem. most likely the author will have to replace the clutch, but so far he has decided to install the pulleys with a belt tensioner, which will allow to use the entire range of engine speeds, as well as the desired speed.
