We used to have chopping boards, usually rectangular in shape. Oval ones are also rare. We suggest you surprise your friends and at some party cut cheese on a board in the shape of a guitar.
We will need:
- A large wooden cutting board of rectangular shape with a thickness of about 35 mm. It can be purchased at the market or at any supermarket.
- Tung or Danish oil for countertops.
- Liquid paraffin.
- The guitar.
- Band saw or jigsaw. We used the second.
- Wood milling machine with 10 mm milling cutter.
- Grinding machine, grinder or electric grinding washer.
- Emery paper of different grit.
- Drill and drill with a diameter of 32 mm.
- A pencil.
Step 1. Draw the outline
Gently lay the guitar on a wooden cutting board and draw a pencil around the outline.
Place the lines with a marker so that they are sharper and simplify the process of “cutting”.
Step 2. Cut
Place the jigsaw perpendicular to the board and cut along the contour. Avoid breathing wood dust as it is not good for your health.
Step 3. Drill an extra hole
We will drill an additional hole so that the board can be conveniently hung. We used a drill with a diameter of 32 millimeters.
Step 4. Grinding the product
Use any sanding tool you have to align the edges of our cutting board.
Step 5. Give the edges a rounded shape and polish the product.
Walk the mill on the radius of the product. Polish all irregularities with sandpaper.
Step 6. Apply oil
Soak the product with tung oil and grease with liquid paraffin. Danish oil is not the best choice, because it has a specific smell, and the board will come in contact with food. However, if there is no tung oil, Danish can also be used.
Step 7. Final touches
Let dry and then wipe off excess with a rag. Sand with fine sandpaper.
Repeat step 6 3 more times.
