Nowadays, in summer cottages, people try to improve the condition of their land so that it becomes more modern and functional. A lot has come to us from Europe, because they have the theme of improving living conditions, and makes up their meaning in life. For example, the arrangement of beds on a land plot, we plant mainly in open ground, and Europeans have long resorted to a method such as growing vegetables and greenery in high beds.
But slowly our summer residents adopt the Western experience, and test these beds in their plots.
What is a high bed? A high bed is, first of all, a tall box up to a meter high, which is upholstered inside with dense material but which allows air to pass through for the growth of plants and vegetables. Also, inside the box, a kind of small compost hole is arranged in one bookmark, that is, before filling the fertile soil layer, dry branches are laid in the box from the beginning, even rotten logs can be put in place, they will decompose longer. Next, manure is filled with fresh compost; you can also add fresh plant debris or food waste. Now imagine how powerful this garden bed is with such a filling that you will not need to fertilize it for several years, it will simply process its bookmark and thereby nourish the greens and vegetables planted in it.
The yield on such beds is naturally several times higher than conventional beds, which is of course very good for a summer resident.
The author, who learned about this type of beds, wanted to build a similar one on his personal plot, and at the same time save on material, and make beds from pallets which were abundant in him.
And so now let's take a closer look at what was needed to build this garden, and how he performed the construction work.
Materials: pallets, dense air permeable material, staples, nails.
Instruments: hacksaw, hammer, nail puller, shovel, stapler, pliers.
And so, first of all, he disassembles the old pallets, so that later they can collect high beds from them.
Then hammer nails sticking out with a hammer, which did not want to get out.
And they succumb to it, because later they will come in handy.
Further, the author saws, and twists the base of the future box.
Then makes a high board.
Inside, all the walls are upholstered in dense material, but let in air.
After this action, the ingredients are placed in the box according to the given order, first branches and rotten logs, then manure, compost, and only on top of the fertile layer of land.
Then he leveled the ground and this is what happened.
So the high bed of pallets is ready do it yourself, and the author is very pleased with his creation, because a high-yielding bed has now appeared on his site.
