I am engaged in rabbit breeding, therefore, to ensure optimal conditions for their pets, especially pregnant and lactating rabbits, it is necessary to create places for them where they can feel calm, feed rabbits and just hide. Therefore, I make houses for them, which I install in the cells - mother liquors. This is a great option to preserve the offspring, to let it grow quietly until the time comes when they will be separated from their mother.

I made it from plywood. He beat the ends with a corner so that the rabbit and the growing offspring would not gnaw him.
I needed the following tools:
I am a grinder with a flap disc for grinding products, a cutting wheel on wood, small nails, a hammer, plywood, corners, rivets, a riveter and pliers.
To start, I marked out the markings on plywood and sawed it into blanks.
Then he began to collect the rectangle. After assembly, he polished the grinder in some places, removed the roughness of the saw cuts.
As you can see in the photo, I immediately began to collect it completely, which was a mistake. But more on that later. For now I will describe how I did it initially.
After that, I attached one end wall and began to close the corners of the plywood joints around the entire perimeter with a corner. Initially, I tried with small nails, but they crawled out into the interior of the mother liquor. They had to be bent. But it’s still dangerous, because the animals could get hurt. I decided to try to fix the corners on plywood with a rivet tool and rivets. And it turned out just fine! rivets, the working part of which 8 mm perfectly fastened the material to each other. Part of the rivet was buried in plywood, and the rest provided a solid connection. And there were no sharp parts left.
After I was convinced that this method of fixing the corners to plywood is good enough, I went on to manufacture the mother liquor door. In the front wall I sawed a square hole, measuring 20x20 cm. Now it was also necessary to protect the opening in the mother liquor from gnawing. For this, I also used corners.Sawing off the size I needed, I bent it with the letter P with unequal sides. The outer part should be larger, the inner one, so that it fits a rivet. Further, I installed it in the opening and, having previously made a hole with a diameter of 4 mm, I attached it to the rivets.
The corner was tightened on two sides. He bent most of the corner again, but already in place. In general, the part turned out in the form of the English letter S. Such details are needed only for the sides of the hole and the bottom. The lower one is the door stop, and the side ones are guides. For the top, we make the part in the form of the letter P.
Remember, I wrote above that I made a mistake when I assembled a rectangle, the base of the mother liquor is almost completely? So, you do not need to do this, since it will subsequently be inconvenient to assemble the door. It is better to immediately assemble it and only after that completely collect all the walls of the mother liquor.
Further, according to the size of the hole, I cut a metal blank for the door and a strip of metal for the handle. Riveted. In my case, I made a door that will not be constantly in the mother liquor. It is needed as a last resort. For example, when after birth the rabbits the rabbit comes into the hunt and begins to rush about the cage. In this case, close the door to the birth department, re-plant the female to the rabbit, and after mating, let it back into the cage. If the female is calm, then open the door. But still, it's better to make it so that it opens to the side. It’s more convenient and no additional emphasis is needed.
In my mother queen, the edge of the door opening is quite low, as it was made for an experienced rabbit who has already brought offspring more than once. Therefore, I was not afraid that she could pull them out of the mother liquor. For the firstborn, I myself, and I recommend that you make the side higher. The fact is that fry can stick to the mother when they suck milk and she can remove them from the mother liquor without even wanting it. On the contrary, she will not drag him in, and if you did not see in time that the rabbit was out of the nesting compartment, then the rabbit may not trample it or cripple it on purpose.
Therefore, when collecting a mother queen, be careful and think in advance for which rabbit you are doing it. But it’s better to immediately make a high side, since for an experienced rabbit, he will also not hurt.
And the last stage of construction was the final fixing of the corners around the perimeter of the mother liquor.
As a result, the maternity ward was lightweight, durable, and very cheap. Even if you buy plywood, its cost does not exceed 250 rubles for the size of 1.25x1.5 m. The corners are quite a penny. In my area, 48 rubles for 3 m. They also needed a little more than 5. In short, the total cost will cost you about 400 rubles.
