If you have to live in a small or one-room apartment, then you probably have repeatedly thought how to save space. Usually, people get an uncomfortable sofa or a folding bed for this.
Try to find some free days to craft. do it yourself a podium in the bedroom, which will be appropriate not only in a one-room apartment, but also more spacious in a dwelling. The podium serves to hide sleeping places during the day and divide the room into two parts, turning it into a quiet cozy corner. You don’t need much effort, because such a solution does not require special fastenings in the walls or ceiling. Even in a rented apartment you can make such an indispensable design.
Calculate the space required for the podium, which should accommodate one or two beds. Measure the beds with a margin so that they can be approached from all sides. Draw on paper a diagram of the room with the location of the main objects of furniture and the podium. The drawing will help you choose the C and T-shaped profile elements, which then will need to be cut from profile chipboard (19 mm).
Screw two strips of chipboard to each prepared profile, having previously glued them (perpendicular and floor). According to the marking, fasten the supporting elements on the floor with dowels, and then install the upper strip of chipboard. If you do not want to drill the floor, then fix the profile elements with adhesive tape, but very, very firmly.
Take the crepe tape and mark on the floor the mounting positions of the elements that you applied to the drawing. Connect the profile strip to the vertical one. On the last of the strips, mark the middle line with a pencil and apply glue to it. Gently attach the top strip to the T-profile, which is already screwed to the floor.
Using the slag bolts, connect the elements from the chipboard. It is best to take a drill designed for a certain number of revolutions, and screws.
Prepare a very durable podium flooring that will have to withstand people and furniture. It is very good if you connect two boards from chipboard with a thickness of 22 and 16 mm or 38 and 19x2 mm, i.e.three plates.
Line the podium with small fragments, as it is very difficult to cope with such huge plates. This means that it is necessary to select such chipboards that can be connected by a comb and a tongue. Usually floorboards become such material.
On the podium, lay also a very durable coating, preferably a carpet. To avoid wrinkles on the coating, glue it to the floor with a “bustilate”. The covering for the carpet from the side of the "drawers for beds" will be a 40x5 mm rail.
Now you need to collect the drawers in which the beds will be hidden. Do not forget about the front pair of rollers that will push the drawers. The height of the rollers should be taken into account when drawing up the main drawing. Layered plywood can become material for boxes. Connect the details of the boxes with glue and a screw. When the bed drawers are mounted, check to see if they move easily to make corrections. The drawers will fit tall mattresses, pillows and blankets. At night, the podium will be laid out thanks to roll-out beds, and during the day it will gather, turning the room into a study or living room.
