Those who watched the film “33 misfortunes” should remember the original window with shutters closing like a diaphragm on the camera. I tried to make such a diaphragm, but on a smaller scale, and the Master. In this article, we will examine in detail how he did it.

Step 1: disassembling the chain
To disassemble the bicycle chain, the author used a special tool called squeeze. Clamping the squeeze in a vice, for stability, placed a chain link between the stop and the spike.
Screwing the spike, squeezed the pin out of the groove.
Thus, I disassembled the whole chain. For the diaphragm, 24 pins are needed, the author left the rest of the chain to others homemade. The pins for later use were washed and degreased.
Step 2: Making the Petals
For making petals, the author was developed. Having printed the template on a sheet of paper, I pasted it on a copper sheet.
The copper sheet has a thickness of 0.1 mm. Gently scissors cuts twelve petals. Marks places for pins.
Removes paper from the petals.
Step 3: Soldering the pins
Next, you need to solder the pins to the petals. For each petal, two pins. From two ends, one on top of the other below.
Clamps the welding clamp in a vice. The edge of the petal is laid on the lower lip, installs a pin on top, fixes with a clip. The pin should be installed in the place noted earlier, according to the template.
Applies solder paste to the junction of the pin and the lobe.
Heats the paste with the burner until it melts.
Bends a semicircular piece of solder and puts it on a pin.
Heats the soldering spot with the burner until the solder melts. When the pin is soldered to the tab, it releases the clamp and repeats the operation on the other side of the tab.
The author spent about 20 minutes soldering all 24 pins to 12 petals.
Step 4: Making the closure ring
To make the ring, the author used 2 MDF 20 boards of 20 cm, with a thickness of 15 and 3 mm.
It prints on a sheet of paper. On a 3 mm thick MDF board, a template with 12 holes is glued. The template with slots sticks to a 15 mm board. Cuts rings with crowns.
Drills holes in a thin ring with a diameter equal to the diameter of the pin.
Dremel selects the grooves in the thick ring. The depth of the groove is 10 mm; the width is the diameter of the pin.
Step 5: diaphragm assembly
All parts of the diaphragm are made, you can start assembling.
Picks up a plastic lid from the CD storage box.
Lays a thick ring with grooves up inside the lid.
Lays the first petal on the ring. One petal pin is up, the other is inserted down into the groove.
Lays on top of the first petal of the second. The pin of the second lobe installs in the next groove.
Behind him is the third.
Thus, stacks all twelve petals.
Having laid the petals, sets a thin ring on top. The holes of the ring should be aligned with the pins of the petals.
