Periscope - in translation from the ancient Greek "I look around." It is an optical shelter surveillance device. On the Internet, a huge number of articles on the manufacture of a simple periscope from cardboard boxes. But unfortunately such a periscope, due to the not strong material of its base, does not suit me. I decided to make a durable, metal periscope and I want to share with you the technology of its manufacture.
Tools and materials
- a mirror;
- black fabric;
- pieces of a profile of an aluminum frame;
- a hacksaw for metal;
- two-component epoxy glue;
- rubber glue;
- glue gun;
We cut the pieces of the profile of aluminum frames at an angle of 45 degrees, and then remove the excess parts of the profile. Holding the knife along the profile over and over again, you can make a sufficient incision so that unnecessary pieces are easily broken off. Since aluminum is a fairly soft metal, making cuts is not difficult.
Further, in order to avoid glimpses reflected from the metal walls of the periscope, we glue all three profiles from the inside with a black cloth.
Now you need to cut the mirrors. The height of the mirror will be the length of the cut corner, and the width will be the same as the internal profile width. We add the parts of the periscope and draw an orientation line for installing mirrors at an angle of 45 degrees. Next, with a glue gun we glue the mirrors to the short parts of the periscope.
After making sure that the mirrors are installed correctly, we connect all parts of the periscope with epoxy glue.
The length of the eyepiece with the lens was large. This was easily fixed with a hacksaw. And for one periscope passed the test. The adhesive bond holds the structure securely.
Great toy for kids. I think that adults will also not mind having fun with such a toy.
