Having received an order for the manufacture of a knife, the author homemade decided to make a motorized knife. For the blade of the knife, the customer provided a blade of Damascus steel.

Step 1: Making the Blade
Since the author already had a knife, he simply cut off the handle from him leaving one blade. Holes were made in the back of the blade. A rotary axis will be installed in the hole.
Step 2: making a pen
Three identical plates are cut from brass. On one plate lies the blade of the knife and outlines the contour. Cut the plate along the contour. Using soldering accessories solders the rectangular and curly plates to each other. Putting the plates together fixes them with screws.
Using a lathe makes, in the handle, a bearing seat.
Gives the handle a shape. Frez selects a recess for the battery, motors, buttons, wires.
Cuts a handle plate from a mahogany block. Having fixed it on a brass plate, it sets on the back side of the mechanical part. Grinds the handle.
I use chemicals to apply patina on the hilt.
Step 3: Installation of the electro-mechanical part
Installs a worm gear.
Installs a bearing in the seat. He puts the blade on the shaft. Installs a shaft with a blade in a bearing. From the top of the blade puts on a worm wheel, then a second bearing. fastens the bearing cage to the handle.
Installs a reducer, buttons, contacts, grooves, lays wires.Gearbox and buttons covers with covers. Covers are fixed with screws.
Installs, in their intended place, electric motors from a quadrocopter. Connects wires.
It covers the engines with a lid.
To charge the battery, the battery cover, which is installed in the cover, installs a connector and indicator. Screws the cover to the body with screws. Screws the plate with the name of the knife onto the lid.
Fastens the ring.
