Those who have an old “burnt out” vacuum cleaner are lucky - they will make a good water pump from it.
To do this, it must be equipped with an electric motor with a shaft rotation speed of 1400 rpm (1). The motor shaft must be lengthened, for which a nozzle (4) is turned on the lathe, which is screwed into the motor shaft. A space is provided on the nozzle for a bearing mounted in the suction chamber. In addition, on a lathe, it is necessary to make a glass with holes (3) for the outlet hose and for the motor shaft. The glass is attached to the suction chamber with two M8 bolts (2), passed through the hole drilled in the cover.
The corresponding holes in the glass are deaf, and an M8 thread is also cut into them. A pipe is screwed into the threaded hole in the glass wall, onto which a bypass rubber tube is put on. The diameter of the nozzle opening should be no less than the diameter of the outlet of the outlet pipe. The gasket between the glass and the suction chamber can be made of a plastic lid for glass jars.
To attach the glass to the motor, remove the engine cover and drill bolt holes in it. On the inside of the cover, insert the M8 bolts into these holes and tighten three nuts on them. Then screw the bolts into the glass until they stop and replace the engine cover. Turning the nuts locked on the bolts with a wrench, ensure that the cup is centered on the motor shaft. Now lock the bolts with the nuts in both the lid and the glass. If the bearing in the motor cover is large, which does not allow making holes for the mounting bolts to fit the cup, you can fix the cup on the motor in another way. Take a metal disc and drill a hole in the center for the motor shaft. Weld the plate to the glass and drill holes for the bolts in it.
After installing the glass, fasten the parts of the suction chamber. Lock the extension nozzle on the motor shaft for reliability. Attach the inlet tube flared from the side of the cover (5) to the chamber cover. To start the pump, lower the inlet pipe into the water.Block it at the bottom and pour water into the chamber through the branch pipe. Turn on the engine and open the tap after 1-2 seconds.
