Hello to all lovers homemade, sometimes it happens that we don’t even notice in front of us simple things from which we can make something more valuable if we make an effort. In this article, I will tell you how the author made a home-made coffee table from a long-forgotten window that could be left idle for many, and the glass surface of the table will add its own touch of interior to your home.
In order to proceed, certain materials are needed, these are:
* Old unnecessary window, maybe your friends have it.
* Wooden planks.
* Sheet plywood, a board may also come up.
* Metal corners at 90 degrees.
* Screws within 40 mm.
* Another glass that will exceed the usual thickness in order to increase strength.
* Sandpaper, if available, it is better grinding machine.
* Hacksaw in wood.
* Measuring instruments: tape measure, ruler.
*White paint.
After when all the materials are in stock, we proceed gradually to the assembly.
First step. To start the assembly, we need to prepare the window surface in the state we need. Excessive are pens and loops, awnings. If there are other unnecessary elements, then free the frame from them, in particular, these are the nails and the remaining screws.
Second step. After converting a regular window to a countertop, we will need to change the glass, too, since the loads for ordinary glass will be very large and the glass may simply not withstand. In this case, the author uses glass with a thickness of 5 mm, which is able to withstand physical stress and not break at an awkward moment.
Our strong glass must be put on the inner frame of the window, before that, remove the old glass. Next, we adjust the dimensions of the new glass, armed with a glass cutter, so that it fits tightly, if you are not confident in your skills, then it is better to trust professional glass workers, if necessary, they will process it by grinding the edges.
Third step. What a table without legs, you say. So let's start, take the bars 55 cm long and 5 cm thick, therefore, if you want a bigger table, then increase the size of the legs. If necessary, the legs can be sanded and freed of unnecessary elements, but in this case it is better to find the legs in perfect condition.
For structural strength, we will need other bars, a smaller section, they will be fixed with legs, and the lower part of the table is attached to this place.
Fourth step. Smaller prepared legs and beams must be sanded with ordinary sandpaper or a grinder, and then painted with white paint, in this homemade product, painting has an important role, so if you have a spray gun, then it is better to use it, and not a brush. After the paint dries, go to the fasteners. Armed with a screwdriver and screws, we fasten the metal corners at 90 degrees to the top of the legs and do not forget that all the holes for the screws should be occupied after fixing, do not spare materials for yourself, since the table may turn out unstable.
In a similar way, we twist the legs themselves to our improvised tabletop from the window, then we strengthen the structure using the lower beams screwed at a distance of about 20 cm from the floor, and then we install the lower surface of the table, which will serve us as a shelf, any material is suitable for it, be it plywood or chipboard.
If necessary, the table can be repainted, as well as rubber pads to wooden legs to better keep it on the floor plane.
On this homemade coffee table is ready.
Now the unnecessary window has turned into a very pleasant element of the interior, for which you can spend time with pleasure, knowing that you made it yourself. All successful homemade and engineering ideas for them.
