Watch Lighter

An interesting idea to create a gas lighter from a watch. The author of this homemade has long been fond of creating various types of lighters from improvised things. This time his eyes fell on a couple of old idle watches. Considering the idea of creating a lighter that could be worn on the hand promising, he began to develop it.

Materials for creating a wrist lighter:

- a watch in the amount of two pieces
wheel from a lighter
metal tube
-springs
-wat and wick.

A step-by-step description of making a lighter from a watch:

Step One: Preparing Your Watch.
For a start, two pairs of old broken watches were taken. They were disassembled and freed of everything superfluous in the form of a clock mechanism, dial, etc., since only a case is needed to create a lighter.

Further, the ledges of the corners of one of the watches were cut. This watch will subsequently be located on top. The cover of this watch is adjusted so that it can be installed instead of a protective glass.

On the second watch, which the author used, there was a rotating edging. This edging was also removed, but there was a sill left from it, on which the second hours after fitting would be installed.

Step Two: Solder two hours into a single lighter housing.

After two hours were fitted to each other, the author proceeded to solder them into a single building.

The upper watch case fitted to the size of the protective glass was also installed and soldered from the inside.

Step Three: Install the wick for the lighter.

Then a small hole was drilled in the lid for installing the wick.
As a holder for the wick of the future lighter, a tube expanded in the hole was used:

Next, you had to make a cap for the wick. Variants of the cap design were considered, such as unscrewing, folding, cap and even magnetized. But, unfortunately, all these designs were either inconvenient, or there were not enough details to make the necessary hinges, and the metal of the clock used was naturally non-magnetic.
Therefore, it was decided to make a spring-loaded cap to close the wick:

Step Four: Installing lighter components.

The holder for the wheel was made according to the simplest scheme, and is firmly attached to the surface of the watch:

Then a silicon wheel was installed on it:

And then the cap is attached to protect the wick:

Spring retention is provided by conventional cotter pins:

But with this design, cotton wool will fall under the coils of the springs, therefore, it is necessary to protect the structure by attaching a small tube to the cap stem:

Step Five: Product Testing.

Further, a standard strap was attached to the watch mounts, after which the lighter was completely ready for use.

Below is a video showing the operation of the lighter:

As you can see the idea of such a lighter is original and quite convenient. The design is simple enough for repetition. Now the lighter will not take up space in your pocket, and it will be not just “at hand”, but on your hand. In addition, you can always surprise someone who asks you to smoke.
