Rocking-chair for giving

Sometimes you want to relax while rocking in a comfortable rocking chair. Such a chair can be easily made in your garden or in the country, you only need time and materials. We proceed to a closer examination.

We will need:
Two sheets of chipboard (120 * 115 cm), a pencil \ chalk (for drawing), a screwdriver + screws or a hammer + nails, a jigsaw, tape measure, paint (for painting work).

.
Step 1:
Transfer the drawing to the chipboard sheets. Some measurements are given, but the shape can be slightly changed according to your imagination. The main thing is not to make the round part of the knife too rounded! Otherwise, the chair will be overloaded.

Step 2:
Cut two such parts and sand the edges if necessary for evenness.

Step 3:
Saw twelve bars of 54 * 3 * 2 cm (back and seat), three bars of 52 * 6 * 3 cm (reinforcement), two bars of 48 * 4 * 2 cm (armrests).

Step 1:
Place one side of the chair against the wall, and fix the other at a distance of 54 cm from it. The assembly will be inconvenient if you do it alone, so ask someone to keep the details, because they may fall due to weight and instability.

Step 2:
Screw the first eight bars on the seat with screws as shown in the photo.

I advise you to retreat 1.5 cm between the bars.

The remaining four of the same size are attached to the back. Choose a comfortable position for yourself. The back should fit snugly against the back of the chair without any pain, and the upper bar should be slightly below the back of the head.

Step 3:
We fasten the fortifications as in the figure (these are three bars 52 * 6 * 3 cm). Try to ensure that each beam is perpendicular to the sidewall, otherwise the chair will "ride" sideways. If it staggers even with such fortifications, then pull off the upper parts of the side parts with the same bars.

Step 4:
The armrests can be rounded on one side (in width). We fasten them to a convenient distance from the back.

Side view:

Rocking chair is ready! Now it can be painted or varnished.

If the chair rolls over, it means that you have made too sharp a twist of the legs. This can be fixed by attaching to the edge of the rounded bottom area.

Have a good ride!

Like it and I like it! ))) But now, as I think, what percentage of plywood came in handy, and how much wasted! .... No, burn it with gar!)))). It’s better to bend it out of the profile pipe ... Just think, heavy !!! : smirk:

From the "Finnish plywood" to collect - then you can swing, and somersault and jump.)))))

To make such a rocking chair out of such plywood ?! I like that one.
Weak point in the structure (indicated by a yellow arrow).
You could, on top, under the most transverse bars, attach two longitudinal wooden boards to the chipboard (you have to fit their upper edge to the shape of the chipboard), after which, each transverse two screws to these boards. At least through one. But it is precisely two screws. So remove the load on the screws that are "at the end of the chipboard"). From above, you will then get a rigid rectangular grid, which will take on the "diagonal loosening". A chipboard will only accept vertical loads, with which it will cope.
.... And done in advance, do not wait until the upper edge crumbles. And then I'm sorry for your work. It’s a good thing ...
We are talking about something else. It can lurk for a while under load strictly vertically. But anyway, it will experience strong loads on displacement and "loosening" (There is no balancing))))). And therefore, the screws in the chipboard will not last long.

The chair is not quite fragile, since the support goes along the vertical side of the board, and not vice versa. Because of this, nothing bends and rides well

And, most importantly, do not forget in the rain))

Yes, it’s rain, it’s half the trouble (although there’s not much good), so you’ll get in contact with him.

Do not ride hard.

He himself is "heavy" and fragile (with such holes), and he will not "hold" the screws (having non-weak loads).
It’s hard not to ride hard.)))). And, most importantly, do not forget in the rain)))))
Nothing (will go), but chipboard ?!

Unfortunately, this will not save you from this problem.
