Any self-respecting radio amateur, for a long time engaged in the implementation of creative ideas into life, or simply collecting on his desk crafts - homemade comes to a sound decision - to have your own, personal, regulated source of nutrition. Previously, I made a decent amount of this good, but I exchanged, gifted and distributed everything to friends, relatives and comrades. Correctly say - the shoemaker is always without his boots. Finally, I had a clever idea - for myself to make a personal regulated power supply unit of decent quality. The factory power supply for BP-36-100 gas heaters was preserved in my bins.
I once wanted to make a laboratory unit of constant voltage from it, but it seemed heavy and the product lay for a long time with dead capital.

So that the idea doesn’t fade away, I wrote an assembly of KBL410 diode bridge on Aliexpress,

for voltage regulator chip LM317
and digital volt - ammeter.

After a couple of weeks, the first package arrived (parcel), and soon received two at once, the postman brought them directly to their home address. I laid out all the wealth on the table, admired it, began to search and collect the missing components from the bottomless bins in the form of attics, pantries and sheds; instrument terminals, connectors and other trifles.

He took the transformer out of the case,
I wound 50 turns from the secondary winding. To power the multimeter, I wrapped a separate winding in two wires - 40 turns.
The power supply decided to assemble in another case, this case is stamped from thick iron and is difficult to process.
The front panel was cut out of a piece of plastic from the refrigerator.

I hid the microcircuit in a pencil case from the kinder surprise, in the pencil case I pre-drilled holes for ventilation.
He provided the lid with a carrying handle.
The electrical circuit of the power supply is typical, I have seen several crafts even on our website, so I do not provide it in the article. The unit was tested successfully, but they can also charge batteries.

The author did not give the parameters of the resulting block, but it is obvious that the capabilities of the transformer are used by no more than 10%.
It turns out, as if in a hurry ?! Honestly, the language does not turn. "Torn" explanation ?! I would like to understand what is the point? What and what did the author want to tell?

Have you smacked the LM317 into a kinder surprise? Is that a "joke of humor" like that? And the pen on top is not very good if you use the PSU as a laboratory: you can’t put anything on top of it.
