Liquid rosin

Almost every radio amateur has a solid rosin, but it’s very inconvenient for her to solder the boards and smd. Here's a simple recipe for making LIQUID ROSIN.

Let's get started.

We will need:
1. Alcohol
2. Flask (as capacity)
3. Rosin
4. Pliers
5. Sheet of paper (A4)
To begin with, pour alcohol into the flask in the proportions of 1 to 1, 20 ml. alcohol and 20 grams of rosin.
We take our rosin and place it on a folded sheet of paper. Wrap and begin to grind with pliers to a powdery state.
That's what we should end up with.Next, carefully place the rosin in the flask itself with alcohol, and tightly close the lid. Shake for about 30 seconds and leave the solution to dissolve completely. Personally, everything disappeared in about one hour.
In the end, this is what we got, this consistency can be poured into a container convenient for you (a syringe, a jar of nail polish, etc.)
I took a can of varnish, it is very convenient for her to apply the flux because there is already a ready brush.
Rinse thoroughly from the remnants of varnish, and transfused the finished rosin.
It is very convenient to work with this flux, for clarity, I soldered two wires. After soldering, washing is not required.
As a result, we get a finished product.

Methyl, of course, is bad for safety reasons, even if only steams - but also to nothing. And what is ethyl, what isopropyl is the same. The main thing is concentration, which, in fact, I wanted to hear about. 70% ethyl (medical) alcohol dissolves rosin extremely poorly. It is necessary to take 90% and higher.

And “20 ml of alcohol and 20 grams of rosin” is, of course, not 1: 1, as the author claims, but about 4: 5. And such a wild concentration, as you rightly noted, is worthless, rosins need several times less.

Ivan, you intrigued me with this question: - "What alcohol must be in order for rosin to dissolve in it?". Yes, anyone.Methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, in my opinion, nevermind what kind of alcohol it is, because in them all have resin (pure rosin), with varying degrees of success, but it dissolves in the end. Well, of course, if you take 20 g of rosin and 20 g of alcohol, as the author suggests, the amount of alcohol will not even be able to moisten the specified amount of rosin, not to mention its dissolution. There is a complete bullshit in the ratio. Another question, when using this flux, which alcohol will instantly evaporate and be inhaled by you.

On the issue of dissolving rosin, I did not look on the Internet what alcohol should be used, I just used ethyl, and propyl, and isopropyl, and isobutyl. The result is one. The rosin dissolves in them, but with a different temporary result, but the finished flux practically does not affect the quality of the solder. In any case, after applying each, it is necessary to clean the solder with more pure alcohol.

But seriously, no kidding?

Author, oooh! Understood what alcohol should be?
Alexei, to be honest, I still do not understand your example, what is it about?
Probably getting old ...
I’ll tell you an example from the life of such stubbornness and arrogance. in the early 90s I had the opportunity to work as a fitter in the Putin brigade. And a new man came to us for a team leader, but with the prospect of becoming a master. He had a railway education, but the last post is the mayor of a medium-sized city. Something he was guilty there. Well, that's not the point. We worked at the station on the arrow. And when you work at the station, the attendant should warn you about the trains via the speakerphone. I don’t remember what they were doing, but this did not affect the safety of the passage of trains. On the way (stopping requirement) they put a red shield. We see the train "creeping" around the station. We took everything out of the way. The brigadier didn’t want to remove the shield. Says the attendant did not warn, let him stand. Well, who was left to blame? Of course, our esteemed mayor. According to the testimony of the train crew, there were no people, tools, etc. on the tracks. According to the testimony of the foreman, the passage was safe. Why didn’t you remove the shield? I wanted to teach a dispatcher. Formally, the foreman is right, and in life remove the shield for 15 seconds.
I’ll write here, this is my position.

Two words about "chew" ....
At first, the teacher of the Russian language corrects errors in the student’s text for correct spelling. The student these corrections on the drum, and the next time he writes these words with errors.
Then the teacher began to underline the letters in the word with the error, and the student was obliged to find and correct it for the correct option. And the best option is to underline the whole word with an error, and you really have to move your brains.
This is exactly (the third option) and it suits us. There is no "ligbes" to chew from the basics.
R / C, so I have to chew the AUTHOR, and ask me the author, -westerly? I have to "run" after him, do I need it or him?
Example: - Ivan in his first posts “emphasized” the mistake made, the reaction is zero. The author continues to write in the same way (indicating voltage, call it current) ?! Is it your mistake or mistake, or something else?
I hope that the author will continue to think before writing something.
And Ivan correctly noted, this is our "fluent" leads to irreparable consequences.
From "quick thinking" the trains collide and rockets "over the hill" fly. Unfortunately... ((
I agree with that. But in this particular case, I think this is based not on lack of knowledge, but on “fluent thinking.” When people are just “not being sharp,” they say or write not quite correctly, while understanding the essence! If you tell them, they’ll get better ... (I’m sinning this myself ... Won recently wrote: "It flashes with an amplitude of one second!")))).And what do you think, I don’t know what is amplitude, but what is a period?))) Just ... well, that's what he said and that’s it ...)
... As an example: auto electricians who are good at “brains” and “firmware” often suggest “measure the charging current on the battery” in a conversation to see if the car is charging it correctly ... That's all (and they themselves first of all) know that voltage is measured there, and not current - the auto-accumulator is charged when the engine is running by the static voltage method, which eliminates its recharging and sticking ...
And, by the way, the same goes for “boiling” - everyone knows that this process has nothing to do with boiling! It's just .... it's easier, is it ....

“I didn’t understand about the 4.5 V current!” .... And for some reason I’m sure that he perfectly understood that the author was mistaken and confused the current with voltage. Unfortunately, this often happens. And one could simply write: "4.5 V is the voltage! I asked about the current! How many Amps?"

Well, you also do not flirt in kind uncle. The author cites a photo for solidity, a diagram of the dependence of current on voltage, and we will study it, what is current and what is it measured in? Does everything have a limit? You will invite the master to the house, which does not distinguish cement from sand, does not see the difference between a nail and a self-tapping screw. Patiently tell him where and where to eat it? Take on the case, think in it ?! Do not think, do not shake the air.

As a child, I loved (and still love) the Georgian fairy tale about the old blacksmith,

: laughing: Just a joke on the topic. Without any sense: smirk:
And I loved the fairy tale about a broom! This is when the sons came to the father and said that they can’t do the work, because each one is “oppressing his own” and each one is interfering with the other!

- Bring me a broom! - Father said ...
They brought him a broom ... He took it ...
And ka-a-ak gave them a broom with stars ... ....

... And they ran ... And they did everything ... And they succeeded !!!

Conclusion: it is necessary to stimulate!

... But this must be "reached" ....
I totally agree! But the best way is to get there yourself!

First, you just need to point out the shortcomings: "this is not right for you, because THERE is more correct THIS, and not like yours ...."

... If a person does not know something, you need to correct it, and not "catch" on this ...

But I do not want to chew and explain to a person who is not interested and does not need it, let him first show that he needs it. As a child, I loved (and still love) about the old blacksmith who sent his son to earn a ruble with his own hands. And the knowledge gained by labor, and not freebie, is much better absorbed. Moreover, now to get information you don’t have to go to the library, work with the catalog there, wait for the literature to be brought in, look in it, or even not find what you need at all.

How many clever words, such correct reasoning. What about? As always about nonsense, the real one. But understandable even to a student (which is attractive). Alcohol and rosin, such a complex composition, such a complicated recipe? .

By the way, I didn’t even read it ... I looked, I realized from the pictures what was what. As I understood, it is not interesting to me. Now there are so many ready-made fluxes on sale (both liquid, and solid, and pasty) that this advice seems to me to be useful only in the USSR, when only rosin was available ...
.... Therefore, I did not participate in the discussion of DIY! And my comment, with an abundance of "correct reasoning" and "smart words" refers to the "discussion of discussions"
... Because, as I already wrote, I do not like to flaunt it myself with the fact that "I know, but someone does not know." (I, like EVERYTHING, cannot know everything. Moreover, even that much that I know did not come to me with birth. And if someone else has no experience, then when I it was something like that.) And therefore, I think that you just need to express your opinion ARGUMENTED: "This is bad, BECAUSE .....".
As an example: Dear Pokhmelev (in my opinion, he. Sorry if I made a mistake) to a nearby homemade product he wrote: “I did not understand about the current 4.5 V!” .... But for some reason I’m sure that he perfectly understood that the author errs and confuses current with voltage.Unfortunately, this often happens. And one could simply write: "4.5 V is the voltage! I asked about the current! How many Amps?"
... If a person does not know something, you need to correct it, and not "catch" on this ...
Then the discussions under the "paper airplanes" will be much shorter .... Indeed, even now we are not discussing "liquid rosin" at all ...
Have you carefully read my komen?
-Maybe I am dumb, but I do not understand what it changes?
It is strange to hear such words from the person who first commented on such "nonsense."
How many clever words, such correct reasoning. What about? As always about nonsense, the real one. But understandable even to a student (which is attractive). Alcohol and rosin, such a complex composition, such a complicated recipe? But we will make a problem out of this, decompose it into smart and fools. Let's chew first and put in your mouth, but if he does not swallow, point him out, Swallow! What are we discussing and arguing about? Two buttons on the "clave" and you have a set of recipes and bottles. Such tips here are more like garbage. Are there anyone who heard this for the first time? If there is, then you did not need it, and it will not come in handy.
Pogranets, plus. I completely agree. Moreover, somewhere, in my opinion, already wrote something like that ...
Criticism, in my concept, is appropriate when the author, not looking at reasonable arguments, still insists that he is right !!!
... But you need to "get to this" .... First, you just need to point out the shortcomings: "this is not right with you, because THERE is more correct THIS, and not like yours ...."
... And if after that he still insists that he is right, then it’s permissible to write that “you don’t know nichrome, and therefore do not argue! ))))).

And before that, you could assume that he really just DO NOT KNOW !!! And if you don’t know, IT IS SIMPLE TO EXPLAIN IT !!!! (And do not scoff at his ignorance). Most likely, he will agree and say "thank you" ...

No need to "honk and yell at the driver in the training machine !!!" . Just point him to his mistakes ....
Do you personally know how to do it right and don’t tell or don’t know about it at all?
- No, I don’t know, I have never used it and I’m unlikely to be. I'm quite happy with the usual. And I wrote in order for you to comment correctly. The author is wrong because this and that is needed here. And if you do so, it will not work out because of this. The fact that you give a link to a third-party resource is wonderful, but it was also written by a person, and there are doubts in the comments about what to pour.
Let him answer the questions first, maybe at least he will dig into the literature, find out something useful for himself.
Of all the comments, I understood only one thing: "the author is a fool .... he doesn’t know anything about rosin stubs ... we understand, but we won’t say .... let us guess ourselves .... we are smart"

So this "creation" in the "tips" section, did not notice?

Thank you, I noticed, but I would not recommend using rosin already burnt with a soldering iron.
So this "creation" in the "tips" section, did not notice?
Well, and how can this "creation" be attributed to homemade products?
And yet, by the color of the finished mixture, we can say that there is more dirt in it than rosin.
1. What are the requirements for alcohol? Is a medical fit?
2. In the photo you have not a flask, but a test tube.
3. That "No flushing is required after soldering." - Your personal, deeply erroneous opinion.
4. And another mistake, however, is very common:
in proportions of 1 to 1, 20 ml. alcohol and 20 grams of rosin
: innocent: Author "Almost every radio amateur has a solid rosin, but it’s very inconvenient for her to solder the boards and smd."and liquid too.
Soldering is convenient and solid, liquid has its pros and cons. I think that who knows how to solder, you did not open America to them, even with a bottle of varnish.
If only for pioneers (for the whole family).
And in the internet of this good - one to one. It is possible here ...>
