Hello! Many the inhabitants of our sitewho make cars or robots, faced with the problem of lack of wheels for the model. I've been looking for a solution to the problem for six months now. Since I am fond of robotics on ArduinoI often need wheels of different diameters. I will show how easy it is to make wheels.
For their manufacture you will need:
- polyfoam of the necessary thickness (I took 30 mm);
- cardboard rectangles (during the manufacturing process you will understand how long and wide they should be);
- pvc tube diameter 5.2 (or any other, it is used to fasten the wheel to the engine);
-glue "titanium" or equivalent;
gouache paint;
-and some little things that everyone has.
The main tool is a nichrome cutter. They will need to cut polystyrene circles
Here is the design:
Be patient, and you can start.
To begin with, we cut a circle of the desired diameter from the foam with a cutter. We pierce the foam with some axis so that the axis is perpendicular to the plane of the foam. Next, set the axis on the cutter, and, gradually scrolling the foam so that it is evenly cut, cut out a circle
as a result, we get even details:
I do not have a PVC tube and I took the tube from the felt-tip pen
We put it in the center of the circle and glue it
Next, paste cardboard rectangles. In length, they should be equal to half the thickness of the circle. Accordingly, I have a rectangle 15mm long and 10mm wide. (at your discretion, choose the width)
Glue as follows:
We paint with gouache for the normal appearance of the wheels. After painting with a uniform layer of glue titanium, we coat the entire wheel. Until the glue has dried, cut out the white circles and glue around the center of the circle. We are waiting for drying and can be used!
In the future I will make a robot using these wheels.
I hope you enjoyed this idea. I believe that this is a worthy home-made replacement for purchased wheels, in any case, on the network I did not find a single idea about this topic.
