New barbecue from an old barrel

New barbecue from an old barrel

Warm days are getting closer and closer, which means that soon we all will begin to massively go out into the countryside. Among us, lovers of breathing fresh air, there is one delicious tradition - Kebab! And in order to fry it, we often use the grill, it can be purchased at the store, there are a huge variety of them now, which differ in shape, size and so on, but why buy if you can do it yourself, while the costs will be minimized.

Further, the article will describe the manufacturing process itself and include a list of materials used.

We will need:

Materials:

- old metal barrel;
- iron bar;
- rivets.

Tool:

- angle section machine (grinder);
- hammer;
- drill;
- pliers;
- manual rivet gun.

First of all, we’ll find a barrel we don’t need.

Next, the barrel needs to be shaped, for this we put the barrel on a suitable-sized beam and with the help of a hammer or a small sledgehammer, two edges need to be aligned. Thus, we will form the bottom of the barbecue.

It should make a small semicircle.

Then we put the barrel in an upright position and with the help of a grinder we cut out a small window, make an incision, retreating 30 cm from the top, and 15 cm from the bottom, and so on from each edge. The width between the cuts is 40 cm.

Next, put the barrel in a horizontal position, take the grinder and finish cutting the window.

When the window was finally cut out, at the bottom we bend the remains of the metal inward, so as not to get hurt in the future.

Now you need to make two bends, one on each side, for this you need to deviate 10-15 cm from the already formed bottom of the grill, then make a vertical cut, 15 cm long. At the very end of the cut, make a small horizontal cut, it should go to the bottom line barbecue.

Next, you need to bend the edges on both sides inward.

To make the bent part smooth, you need to put something rigid on the bend line, and then use the hammer to tap the surface.

Further, the protruding corners on each side need to be bent inward, this will give additional rigidity to the structure and will protect us from accidental injury.

In order to finally fix the side bent parts, you need to take a drill and make a couple of holes, the distance between them should be 10 cm.

Then we insert rivets into the holes made and fix with a rivet gun. We repeat this procedure with all joints.

Next, we take and cut the metal L-shaped workpiece, the length is done by the size of the window.

It will be mounted inside the barbecue. An important point - the metal bar must be fixed at the same height as the front wall of the barbecue, in order to fix it, we make three holes along the edges and in the center. Next, we also make similar holes, but already in the barrel itself. Then, using rivets, we fix the horizontal bar.

In order for normal air circulation to occur inside the barbecue, for this, we make four holes on each side of the barrel. We use a drill with a large diameter drill.

Brazier is ready! Moreover, we spent a minimum of costs and time. It remains only to use the barbecue for its intended purpose.

Enjoy your meal and have a good time.
