Everyone who enjoys fishing knows that good fishing and beer go hand in hand. The author of this homemade from the United States has long noticed a fishing rod holder on the net and since then, every time he went fishing, he was convinced that he should have something similar in his arsenal.
The holder is very simple, and its manufacture does not require too much time from you. The only thing you will need other than materials is a hacksaw for metal to cut water pipes.
The author claims that using such a device is a pleasure.
To make a fishing rod holder do it yourself, in addition to the hacksaw, you will need the following materials:
1. PVC connectors:
- bend 90 degrees (32 mm);
- tee (32 mm);
- conical adapter 50 x 40 mm;
- coupling (65 mm);
2. pieces of PVC pipe with a total length of 150 cm;
3. glue that is suitable for bonding PVC materials;
4. construction tape or ruler and pencil for marking.
In order not to give a flop with the dimensions, right in the store, check the cross-section of all elements for compatibility.
So, the materials in the collection, get to work.
Step 1: Pipe Cutting
It is best to make the end of the holder sharp so that it easily enters the sand. Mark a suitable angle on the pipe and saw off the edge. This will be the bottom of the support post of the holder.
Now decide on the length of the rack. There is no ideal size and exact calculations are not needed here, just start from the fact that 1/3 of its length will be buried in the sand.
Mark and saw off the pipe of the required length.
These works are best done using a hacksaw with a metal blade. Small and sharp teeth of a cloth perfectly cope with PVC materials.
Step 2: add a tee and a knee
Add a tee to the design. To do this, evenly apply a layer of glue to the pipe and firmly put on the tee as shown in the photo.
Prepare three pieces of PVC pipe - for the tee and elbow: mark and saw off the details of 20-25 cm each. Install two of them on the tee. The top will serve as a holder for fishing tackle, and on the side segment fix the knee, not forgetting to use glue. Before gluing, turn it a little so that the beer bottle container is in an upright position when you set the holder at an angle when fishing (see photo).
On the opposite side of the knee, fix the third pipe section and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Install the beer bottle holder
Choose an adapter that, in conjunction with the coupling, will fit the size of a beer bottle or be slightly wider. The author used a 65 mm coupling.
The 40 mm adapter turned out to be slightly wider than the 32 mm pipe. But this gap when using glue is little noticeable and will not cause any problems.
Connect the cone and the clutch together. Set the resulting part on the holder.
Remove any excess glue, if any, and let the structure dry for several hours.
Step 4: enjoy!
This holder is designed for use on sandy soil, but with the help of a metal stake it can be used anywhere. To do this, hammer a peg of optimal length into the clay bank or place it securely in stones, and then simply put the holder on the peg.
The author is delighted with his homemade work, and you can add another element for a container with a bait or something like that. Experiment!
