Camping long burning candle

Dear visitors of the site from the master class presented by the author, you will learn how to make a camp candle for long burning do it yourself. This candle is designed for quick fire in an extreme situation, for example, when you do not have access to firewood. This can be when a tourist is in a snow captivity, having dug in waiting for a storm, or in a cave or catacomb where firewood is difficult to find. Also, a candle will help when it rains heavily and there is no dry firewood in the forest.

Making a candle is very simple and anyone can do it, let's look at how the author made it, what did he need?

Materials
1. tin can
2. corrugated cardboard
3. candle cinders (wax)

Instruments
1. can opener
2. scissors
3. metal bucket
4. electric stove (heating element)

The process of creating a camping candle long burning do it yourself
Previously, our tourist prepared all the components — this is a can, corrugated cardboard, wax.
To make this candle is quite simple, for this the author took a jar of porridge, opened it, naturally used the contents, because only a tin can is needed.
Next, a strip of cardboard is cut out according to the height of the can, the length is selected individually for the type of can.
The resulting strip of paper is curled into a roll and placed in a tin can.
Then the wax, or the cinder of the candles melt (in a water bath) Melting wax on an open fire is not recommended! Observe safety precautions! The best way is this: boil water in a saucepan and place a container of wax in boiling water (in this case, a bucket). And after the wax is melted, the author pours it into the cavity of a tin can with paper inside, the container is filled to the top.
Next, wait until the contents dry and harden. According to the author, it dried for quite a long time, during the day. As soon as the candle dried out, our tourist immediately tested it, installed several ceramic bricks to comply with the "fire safety" and set fire to it.
I put an aluminum kettle with a liter of water and after 26 minutes the water boiled, according to the author, this is a long time, but in an extreme situation you will not have to choose and you will be glad to any light.
During the tests, one more drawback was revealed: it is "soot" to use it in a tent is not advisable, only outdoors. The kettle was smoked, but it can be smoked at the stake much worse)
After the author boiled the kettle, he extinguished the candle and what was his surprise — the candle remained practically in its original state.

The author also gives advice: it is better to use a can of sprats because the burning area will increase significantly, which means that the flame temperature will be correspondingly higher and it will be possible to boil water faster or prepare a light soup, warm the stew with porridge.

Consequently, such a jar will be more compact, and will fit in a backpack of a tourist, taking up less space, but first you need to wrap it in a bag.

With the identified shortcomings, this candle still remains a reliable source of heat and fire in a hopeless situation. Surely this candle will come in handy in your future campaign.

If we take for example a kerosene lamp, then without glass it will also smoke. The same effect with kerosene. Need traction, an additional influx of oxygen.
If you attach something similar to the candle, then not only will the light be brighter, but the heat transfer will be greater.

It came to mind about the strong soot ....
I watched a burning paraffin (Flashed in a bowl during melting) - the soot is terrible !!! Stronger than from bitumen ... Just pieces of black soot flew into the air !!!
The same thing with wax - once threw a lump of wax into the fire, it was also very smoky ...
The candle, too, the stronger it burns, the stronger the soot. This, of course, is natural, only soot increases not proportionally, but in progression!

I came to the conclusion that when only vapors burn, they burn out completely and there is no soot. If the amount of heat is enough for the liquid to burn, it will produce unburnt particles, and this is soot .... (I understand that the liquid itself does not burn, but still evaporates before that. I meant that the fire touches surface of the liquid and "snatches" particles that do not have time to burn completely ....
Candles lit from the Holy Fire (and extinguished) are sold in Jerusalem. A candle is a "bunch" of 33 thin candles, each with its own wick, which are simply "glued" to each other. If such a “torch” is ignited, it burns with a powerful flame! I watched - from the bottom, each wick burns separately, and only from above, where the fire is already yellow, all the lights are combined into one powerful torch. At the same time, the candle burns for a long time (like, single, of the same length) and does not smoke at all !!! (I lit in the apartment).
And, I think, it’s not about the quality of the wax .. (I doubt it’s even pure wax! Candles are sold in different colors. The most common is white with a blue bottom.) I think this powerful torch from above is the burning of soot!

And here, I think, it would be better to somehow apply many, many thin cotton wicks at a sufficient distance from each other and do without cardboard ....

4. A glass rod was brought into the flame of a candle. The candle flame has a yellowish-orange color and glows.

A soot forms on the surface of the glass rod.
The luminous nature of the flame is due to the degree of oxygen consumption and the completeness of paraffin combustion, carbon condensation and the glow of its hot particles.

Soot indicates incomplete combustion of paraffin and the release of free carbon.

And for them it’s wax !!!

With the same success, you can pour shit (kysik), if not important.
But just do it if it’s not specifically needed, if you don’t come across this, then by and large it doesn’t matter what the candle is with.
The photo is not wax. Unless, of course, the wrong bees didn’t do it)))))
And then the wax !! smiles
And he’s strange here ... ok
