In order to make such a cup holder, I took a birch wood block, processed it with an hatchet, giving it a cylindrical shape. Then, to a level cylinder, I brought wood on a lathe.

Well, not everyone has a machine tool; you can plan a blank for e-mail. a planer or a planer.
Made a blank a little more than the diameter of the glass.

Of birch-bark strips, about a meter long and a centimeter wide, I wove a cup holder along a blank.
