Interesting device invented and made by the author. Tired of pressing, during repair, the lever of a mechanical pistol, he converted it into an electric one.
Tools and materials:
-Mechanical gun for sealant;
-P16 Series linear actuator;
- DPDT switch;
-Battery 9V;
-Aluminum tube;
-Connector for battery;
- clamps;
-Dremel;
-Screwdriver;
-Drill;
-Keys;
Step One: Disassembly
Parses the gun. Unscrews the nut and removes the stem with a thrust cup.
Step Two: Holes
Cut holes in the handle for the drive, switch and wires.
Step Three: Drive Installation
The author used the P16 series drive, specifically P16-200-256_12-S. Fastens an aluminum tube. The drive is attached to the tube. On the actuator stem secures the thrust cup.
Step Four: Switch
The switch used by the author is designated DPDT (two poles, two directions). That is, in this case, when the switch position is changed, the polarity changes and the drive works to close or open. Sets the switch. Connects drive and battery. The battery is secured in a pen.
The drive operates at a voltage of 12V, but empirically, the author found that the extension speed of the rod at this voltage is too high. Therefore, a 9V battery was used.
The electric sealant gun is ready.
1. When repeating the design, pay attention to the length of the actuator stem and gun.
2. It would be nice to replace the battery with a rechargeable one.
3. As far as I understood from the author’s description, the switch is on / off. Those. power is supplied to the drive only forward and backward. For more correct operation, I would put a three-position switch, forward-off-backward. By the way, cordless guns for sealant are quite expensive.
