How to make a smokehouse-barbecue from stone
Dear site visitors, from the workshop presented by the author, you will learn how to independently build a smokehouse-barbecue from natural river stone.

The stone is very beautiful and lively material, pleasing to the eye, buildings from it resemble the structures of the Middle Ages. This material has been used since time immemorial for the construction of houses, castles and other household buildings. Stones were mined in quarries and along river banks. Masonry is a rather difficult matter, because each pebble has its own individual shape and you need to have the talent to lay stones so that then everything does not fall apart. Immediately you can’t erect high walls, everything is done gradually, row by row so that the mortar can dry out.
The main thing is that the stones for the construction can be obtained completely free of charge, on the river, side of the road, in the quarry (if it is not guarded)

So, let's look at what exactly is needed to create a barbecue smokehouse?

Materials

1. river stone
2. cement
3. sand
4. board 25-30 mm
5. wooden lath
6. metal fittings
7. fireproof tile
8. sheet metal
9. barbecue grill
10. metal pins
11. screws
12. corners

Instruments

1. trowel
2. mallet
3. shovel
4. hammer
5. hacksaw
6. drill
7. roulette
8. screwdriver
9. hacksaw
10. capacity for solution preparation

Step-by-step instructions for building natural stone barbecue smokehouses do it yourself.

First of all, you need to choose a suitable place on the site, namely, the furnace should be located far from the capital buildings, not create inconvenience to others and your neighbors, just do not build near fences and hedges. The best option is to put a barbecue near the gazebo, so everything will be at hand and very convenient to cook on vacation on weekends and holidays.

Next, we clear the site, remove the layer of turf and go deep by 25-30 cm, we make the formwork from the board. The solution is prepared in a ratio of 1/3, that is, 1 part of cement and 3 parts of sand, poured together with rubble stone or gran screenings, stones are laid on top of the poured slab until the mixture has frozen. After which it is necessary to wait until the solution dries and gets stronger, in general, after a week, you can begin to build walls. For the construction of walls, the author assembled a wooden frame from a regular board of 25-30 mm, the main thing is that the structure is collapsible and at the end of the masonry it can be easily dismantled.
Putting stones should be selected in shape and fill the voids in the seams with a large amount of solution.
The wooden frame serves as a reliable support, but you do not need to immediately put the whole wall, let the mortar dry and put it on, because the masonry made of stone is heavy and in a bundle of soft mortar can just fall apart.
And so, the foundation is ready and it needs to be given time to dry, 1 day is enough for the cement to harden, and then the author begins to make a frame from a board and plywood to create a countertop.
To strengthen and stiffen the structure, the master applies reinforcement.
It is poured with cement-sand mortar, you also need to leave the technological hole for the chimney, you can simply wipe the scraps of a metal or ceramic pipe into the stove.
After that, stones should be carefully laid out so that each pebble fits organically to another, the voids are filled with a solution.
That's actually what should happen in the end.
Then again you need to wait at least 24 hours, so that the cement hardens and only then the wooden formwork and frame are removed.
The countertop is ready, now it also needs to be given time to dry and get stronger, after which the wooden frame is erected again from the board, it will serve for the convenience of laying the walls of the furnace itself.
We continue laying in the same spirit, that is, we select the stones in shape, fill the cracks with a large amount of solution, go to the middle and let dry.
The walls of the furnace are folded and after everything dries up we remove the wooden frame, carefully disassembling it.
Further, the author proceeds to the manufacture of a frame for the extraction of the furnace and pipe, four slopes from the board and plywood. Note! This frame is made slightly smaller than the width between the walls and stands on the supports — this is necessary so that after the end of the laying it is possible to simply remove the supports and the base to sink into the cavity of the furnace, and the stone hood with the pipe will remain in place.
At the edges of the wooden rail is growing.
The cavity is filled with cement mortar and stone.
The pipe is also laid out with stone.
Again, you need to wait until the surface dries and gets stronger, after which the wooden base is removed, and on top the roof is made best if it is made of metal.

In the lower part of the refractory tile, a small chimney is laid out and lined with stone, that is, for smoking in this small firebox, it is necessary to start a slow (smoldering) fire, and close the barbecue stove with a metal door, so the barbecue turns into a smokehouse.
In the oven itself, it is also necessary to make holes for metal pins to install a barbecue grill and hang smoking products. For firewood, use only hardwood, alder is ideal.
A slow fire is made in the furnace and the product is put into the smoking chamber, which is also a barbecue oven. You can smoke there meat, lard, fish, chicken, sausage.
That's the way the author built on his site a barbecue smokehouse made of natural stone, the process is of course long and laborious, but it is worth it, because only one type of construction made of natural stone looks cool in medieval times)) Now the owner will be able to smoke various products and grill meat on coals, a great combination, and the stove itself turned out to be quite neat and compact.
