Let's look at an example of creating do it yourself propeller-driven aircraft models called GOGO Dancer. The wing span of this model is 1.2 m. Model created already according to ready-made drawings, which one aircraft designer found on the forum.

The process of manufacturing an aircraft model:
Step one. Make the frame
Almost any aircraft model begins with the manufacture of the frame. In this case, it is wooden and made of plywood 4 mm thick. According to the author, it is not effective to use superglue or epoxy to glue the frame; hot glue is best suited for these purposes.
After making the frame, it can already be sheathed. For such purposes, the author uses ceiling tiles, a total of 4 sheets went. The sheets are placed diagonally and glued back to back. The rear frame is stacked here.
Step Two Tail reinforcement
When assembling the model, the author encountered such a problem as a tail too weak. At first, an attempt was made to strengthen the tail with a second layer of ceiling tile and arranging the stringer, which was a coal whip.
But when installing the tail unit, it turned out that such measures are not enough and the tail hangs. If the model is operated like this, then the tail may simply fall off.
Many attempts have been made to fix this problem. The only effective solution was to carry out two more coal whips, which were twisted on both sides of the central one. As a result, all three points converged at the base of the stabilizer. The author glued them, and then filled the last compartment with mounting foam.
After the foam dries, the fuselage becomes strong, however, this refinement will significantly add weight to it.
At the same stage, the nose was made, the nose turned out to be whole. Also, the nose wheel was tightly sealed in front and a frame for the side wheels was created.
Step Three Model wings
The author made a wing, the wooden rulers were used as reinforcement. The lining is made of three sheets of ceilings, which were glued together end-to-end. The forehead of the wing and the endings are made of foam.
Due to the fact that the wings are large-scale, ailerons are also needed here powerful, the author increased them by 30%. If it turns out to be too big - it’s not scary, because they can be cut off at any time.
Step Four Final stage
The author decided to leave the shape of the battery compartments as in the original homemade product. As for glasses, it is made from a clerical folder.
To create a pilot, plasticine, acetone and two tennis balls were needed. First you need to sculpt the desired silhouette from plasticine, and then dissolve the tennis balls in acetone and apply this mixture to plasticine. When the mixture dries, clay can be removed from the figure, heating it in hot water. As a result, the pilot will be very light.
As a paint for the fuselage, the author decided to use acrylic, and the wing was painted with gouache. Painting was done manually using a brush.
Another important point of assembly is possible - this is the method of fastening the wing. At first it was planned to be mounted on an elastic band, but the author decided to complicate the design a little.
A piece was cut out at the bottom of the sheathing, and then a prosthesis should be made of foam plastic over the entire volume of this cavity and put on an epoxy. On the fuselage appeared a frame with fixed nuts and a lining for the bolt heads on the top of the skin for greater strength.
As a result, the weight of the model was 1100 g. Flight testing has not yet been done, but starting the engine at full power with an 8X6 screw showed that the engine is heating up quite strongly and the screw may need to be reduced. Otherwise, the engine can be burned.
