Well, father’s duty at all costs to find a toy machine, in toy stores prices are usually too high, and the quality is better. It was decided to make the submachine gun independently of wood, just about 10 years, 2 furniture panels from the Christmas tree were already lying on the balcony, they then became the source material.

I found a ready-made sketch on the Internet, downloaded redrawn and transferred the drawing to 2 furniture panels previously glued together. I glued the shields with the help of wood glue and clamped them with clamps, the thickness of one plate was 18 mm, in the process it turned out that they were not very even, it might have led from time to time, generally glued and pulled off with difficulty.

I also wanted the assault rifle to be very similar and detailed, so detachable shops, a trigger, a front sight, a shutter, a swivel, a sight, a butt for the butt were added.

A little historical background. PPSh he is the Shpagin submachine gun developed in 1940 by the gunsmith designer G. S. Shpagin. Adopted by the Red Army on December 21, 1940. The cartridge is 7.62x25 TT, the capacity of the drum magazine is 71 rounds, the rate of fire is 1000 rounds per minute. It is one of the main symbols of the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II. It was in service until 1960. Then it was replaced by the AK-47. In our case, the machine will be toy, but as close as possible to the original in appearance) The main material is 2 furniture panels 18 mm thick, the author took spruce, but according to him it is better to take wood of harder species, because the spruce is soft and brittle, in the process I had to glue the broken off pieces many times.We take the shield, coat it with wood glue, then cover it with a second shield from above and tighten it with clamps, again the author recommends using metal clamps, because the plastic clamps are too weak if the surfaces are uneven.After that it is necessary to allow the glue to dry for at least a day (24 hours). Further, according to a drawing from the Internet, the author drew a contour on the workpiece and sawed it out using an electric jigsaw.That's actually what happened in the end.We chamfer, round and grind with sandpaper.The air cooling holes of the barrel of the submachine gun are milled. A semicircle is honed with a file.Chisel selects wood under the swivel.After that, the author proceeds to manufacture the trigger, for which an aluminum plate 3-4 mm thick was taken, the remaining metal parts are also home-made.Preparation of metal blanks for subsequent painting, except for the back, because it is from a real gun of the 19th century.Suspended in a spray booth and coated with primer.Painted, now you need to give time to dry the details.A lever is cut out from a metal plate for mounting a disk magazine of a submachine gun, and on the disk itself the mounting location is reinforced with a plate with a hole.Here is the lever turned out by the author. Now you should drill a hole.After that, a groove is drilled for the installation of the lever.Grooves for the bracket and trigger are also drilled.Then the machine itself is painted, the butt is rewound with masking tape, and the barrel and drum shops are painted black.And here is the result of the painstaking work of the master.As you see, if you want, you can make a child a cool toy with his own hands made of wood, and most importantly, the kid will hold in his hands a symbol of the Victory of his Heroic Soviet people over World Evil.
