DIY Milky Way night light

DIY Milky Way night light

Hello everyone homemade.
At the moment, space-themed products are popular on the Internet. Therefore, the author of this homemade product, decided to make a nightlight depicting our galaxy.

- LED garland (of 10 LEDs);
- Optical fiber;
- synthetic winterizer;
- CD;

- Organza;
- A tube from a cocktail;
- Flexible couplers;

- Glue (aerosol glue, super-glue and hot-melt adhesive of different colors);
- A spring ring for keys;
- Duct tape;
- hair dryer;
- A small round metal jar.

First, the author cuts out 6 pieces of organza of the same diameter as the CD. Glues 3 pieces of fabric on the sides of the CD using aerosol glue. Adheres the fabric unevenly. Then cuts a hole in the center.

First, the author conditionally divided the garland into 3 parts: 2 at the end, 6 in a bunch, and 2 next to the battery pack. Tied the bundle with a flexible screed. Further, the author installed the beam in the hole in the CD, previously stretching 2 LEDs through the same hole.

In order for the whole spiral to shine, the author shortened several threads. In addition, he broke the inner parts of the fibers with the help of platypuses, thus creating several cracks.

Further, the author divided the beam into two parts so that both new beams in assembled form had the same diameter with the diameter of the LEDs. Later, he cut two pieces of 25 mm long from a cocktail tube. Then he installed the beam in the tube (leaving room for the LED) and secured it with transparent hot glue.

The author twisted the threads in the form of a spiral so that they better hold the shape. He put the bunch in a small round metal container, and for several minutes he warmed it with a hairdryer.

First, the author will choose two LEDs emerging from the center of the CD, and fixed them in cocktail tubes, fixing them with transparent hot glue.
Importantso that the beam is near the LED to ensure maximum light transmission.

Further, the author divided each of the bundles into smaller bundles by gluing them with tape. Then he laid the threads on the surface of the CD, fixing them with hot glue.

In the end, the author cut the ends of the threads so that the points of light were distributed outside the disk.

Four bright LEDs are located in the center of the CD, on top of which the author inserted a dense piece of padding polyester. After he began to glue the synthetic winterizer directly to the threads and to the organza using hot melt adhesive. The author changed the density of the synthetic winterizer, and also reduced its number at the edges of the disk. And also added a synthetic winterizer on the reverse side.

The author painted part of the synthetic winterizer in shades of purple and blue. After that, he secured pieces of painted material on the base.

The author also used a dark blue color to emphasize the shape of the spiral. Then added magenta in each branch. Then he left the center of the galaxy white.

The author decided that in addition to the large galaxy in the luminaire there will be several more smaller “distant galaxies”. To form them, the author used the colored rods of hot-melt adhesive. I fixed the LED in the clip and covered it with glue. It is necessary to wait until the glue has cooled before applying the next coat. Drawing layer by layer, the author formed a galaxy.

The lamp itself weighs very little. The hardest part is the battery, so the author decided to fix the hardware directly on it. The fastener consists of a ring and a movable carbine. The author attaches the ring to the block with adhesive tape. Galaxies are not very heavy, so you do not need to worry about the load on the wires of the garland.

And in the end, the author got such a nightlight

That's all! Thank you all for your attention!
