If you have geese, you should know what kind of hellish work it is - tweaking them. The first thing you should know is the time for such work. You need to cut geese in the fall, when they are fully overgrown with feathers and they will grow fluff. Well, or in the winter. Otherwise, there will be many blocks on the goose, which will discourage you from having it.
But even choosing the optimal time for such work, professionally plucking a goose, as they are sold on the market, will not work. You will surely tear the skin, and the appearance of the carcass will not be attractive.
The logical solution here is to scald the goose, but here you will have a problem, the fact is that his feathers are very dense and greasy, the water just does not go to the skin and this approach generally becomes irrelevant.
We found a solution to this problem on the Internet in order to easily and beautifully pluck a goose - you need to pump it! I laughed for a long time at this approach, but nevertheless the experiment was conducted and, surprisingly, the outcome was positive.
Materials and tools for homemade:
- a piece of copper tube (from the brake system of the car)
- pump (I have a car);
- sandpaper;
- a hacksaw for metal;
- preferably whetstone;
- pliers.
Specifically, for work you will need an iron with a steam supply function.
Do device for pumping goose
As you probably guessed, we will pump the goose with air. What for? In order to be able to process it efficiently with steam from an iron or from a steam cleaner. When inflated, the feathers are separated, and access to the skin is opened.
Take a copper tube and cut a piece of it 15 cm long + the part that is inserted into the pump hose, in general, 17 centimeters.
Strip the tube with emery paper, also carefully process the ends of the tube so that it can be conveniently inserted for the intended purpose.
Pick open the inlet with a sharp object, since after cutting it will be narrowed. Sharpen the tip of the copper tube at an angle, I did it manually with a grindstone.
That's all, now insert the tube into the pump hose.The clamp is not needed here, the main thing is that the tube goes tight, the pressure here will be very small. If the tube is thin, wind up electrical tape.
Inflate the goose
The procedure must be done together. First, insert the copper tube into the neck of the goose so that it goes under the skin, between the meat, pinch this place with your hand. Then the second person slowly pumps the goose with a pump, no need to rush. In the end, I managed to make 35 strokes so that the goose would take the desired form. In size, it should be one and a half times more.
When pumping, you can keep both on the back and on the stomach, but it is better to turn it over so that the skin moves away evenly.
In conclusion, the one who pumped up takes the rope and tightens the neck of the goose so that air does not escape. In this state, the goose can be quite a long time, surprisingly the skin does not release air.

Stroking a goose
Now you need an iron with steam function. Put a rag or gauze on the goose so that the feathers do not stick to the iron, and slowly goose the goose. Particular attention should be paid to the stomach, chest and limbs, as these are the most problematic areas.
Do not steam the goose too much, as the skin may boil and tear. Here experience will be needed ... you can still judge by the characteristic smell.

Remove feathers
That's all, without letting air off the goose, we try to slowly remove the feathers. This process will be much easier than scalding a goose or pinching just like that. The goose is obtained exactly as it is sold on the market.
At the end, the rope can be removed and blew.
After deflating, the skin of the goose will be somewhat saggy. But another procedure awaits him - firing with a blowtorch. When processed by fire, the skin falls into place, and the remaining fluff instantly burns.
