DIY hourglass

The history of hourglass dates back to the II century. BC. Astronomers in ancient Rome used an hourglass. Archimedes left a description of the watch. One of the earliest hourglass references in Europe dates from 1339 in the inventory of King Charles the Fifth of France. With the development of modern technology, hourglass is still used.

In this article, we will look at how the Master made hourglass from junk materials.

Tools and materials:
- 2 light bulbs;
-Board;
-Aluminum tube;
-Miter saw;
-Rule;
-Pencil;
-Clamp;
-Drill;
-Drill;
-Crown on wood;
-Rasp;
-Grinder;
- Canvas for metal;
-Sandpaper;
-Sand;
- Board with perforation;
-Nippers;
-Glue;
-Cord;
-Varnish;
-Screws;
-Screwdriver;

Step One: Supports
The master made the upper and lower parts of the hourglass out of wood. Slices two squares.

In the center of the squares, a crown, cuts holes.

Drill holes at the corners of the squares with a 11.5 mm drill. Machines holes with a round rasp.

A crown makes semicircular cuts along the edges of the squares.

Trim corners and grind supports.

Varnishes them.

Step Two: Lamps
The master made a flask of hours from two 100 W light bulbs. Sawing off part of the base from the bulbs.

Removes the inside of the bulbs.

Sanding the edge.

Part Three: Sand
To expel moisture, sand must first be "fried". Then sift. And pour into a flask.

Step Four: Flask Assembly
From the board, the master cuts the dispenser. A hole is drilled in the center of the dispenser.

It processes the edge of the dispenser and glues it to the base.

Glues the second flask.

Wraps the connection cord. Fixes with glue.

Step Five: Handset
Four pieces are cut from an aluminum tube. Sandpaper processes the edge.

Step Six: Build
Inserts the tube into the support. Installs the flask. Establishes the second support. Fixes the tubes with screws.

The hourglass is ready.

The entire manufacturing process can be seen in the video.
