In this instruction, we will make a small transparent box, in the same way you can make a case for yourself, say, for the system unit.
Materials and tools for homemade:
- transparent epoxy for pouring (you can buy;
- glue;
- cardboard;
- glue for wood;
- balsa (or other wood);
- packing tape (possible);
- scissors, clerical knife and more.
Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Making the outer mold
The author makes the form of cardboard, which is strengthened by horizontal ribs. Next, draw a diagram on cardboard as the author did and fold the form. Keep in mind that after hardening the glue shrinks a little. So that the glue does not adhere to the cardboard, it must be laminated. Ribs made around the body are fixed with packing tape.
Step Two The manufacture of the internal form.
The walls of the internal form should be quite strong, they must withstand the molded glue. For such purposes, the author decided to use balm. To prevent the walls from bending, they can be plywood inside or in another way. Do not forget to wrap the inner form with a film so that the epoxy does not stick to it.
Step Three Fill the form
Before pouring the mold, carefully read the instructions for the epoxy glue of your choice. It is very important to mix the resin and hardener in the correct proportions. For greater accuracy we use electronic scales. Pour resin and hardener into separate containers first, then mix. After mixing, you will have about 30 minutes to complete all the necessary things with glue, then it will begin to harden.
Well, now you can fill in the form. First, we take out the inner form, and pour epoxy glue in the amount on the bottom of the outer one, so that when installing the inner form it is forced out, filling the side niches, that is, it forms the future walls of the box.
At the end, the inner form must be fixed. Let the glue dry completely, usually it takes 24 hours.
Since you will probably spill epoxy on the floor or on the table during work, be sure to cover the workspace with a film. Garbage bags are quite suitable for such purposes. It is also advisable to work with rubber gloves.
Step FourTake off the form and enjoy the result
