This effect is achieved through the use of dye and stepwise pouring of epoxy. To imitate the mountains, the author used an old broken block with sharp edges. The process of making a nightlight:
Step one. Fill the blank with resin
First of all, prepare the blank for pouring. We need a block that rotted naturally or you managed to break it. It is desirable that the tree is already darkened, rotted, and so on, so everything will seem as natural as possible. The wood needs to be dried well, since then cracks in the resin may form, it may become cloudy or adhere poorly to the tree.
We cut the bar on a belt grinder, give it a rectangular shape.
Next, we proceed to the manufacture of formwork, here we need sheet acrylic. We cut it into pieces in accordance with the size of the workpiece and glue it to the workpiece with superglue. Next is the sealing line, for such purposes the author uses a gun with hot glue.
You can start pouring, to start, mix a small amount of resin and add white dye to it, ideally, the color should become milky. Pour our future mountains with this resin to simulate snow. We wait until the resin sets or completely dries.
Next, we proceed to the final fill, this time the author adds a blue dye, everything looks very beautiful. We wait until the resin has completely hardened.
Step Two Top manufacturing
We make the upper part for the lamp, there will be LEDs, as well as a battery and a switch. To begin with, we arm ourselves with a milling cutter and make a recess in the workpiece to place all the components described above in the cover body. Well, then we cut it out in the shape of a lamp. Do not forget to drill a hole for installing the switch.
Glue the upper part with epoxy glue, and when the glue dries, proceed to grinding the lamp. We process all parties, we get the desired result.
For the upper part we make a small thin cover, cut it from a thin board. After polishing, the lamp will be matte to restore transparency to it; we grind it manually with sandpaper with a grain size of 220 units. Well, then the author polishes the resin with paste, as a result, it regains its former transparency.
Step Three Lamp assembly
We drill holes for the LEDs in the upper part of the lamp, there will be two of them in total, we have three-volt LEDs. We solder their contacts, install the switch, solder the wires, and also install the battery pack. After that, you can try to make the first inclusion.
In the end, it remains to install the cover, the author has guides that do not allow the cover to fly off the lamp. Here we need thin whetstones or just furniture dowels.
