So, to make the head of such an hatchet you will need an old file. The author cleans it of rust with a brush and screwdriver.
Then you need to cut the file shank, leaving an additional 5-7 cm of blade in stock.
First he grinds the shank.
And then it forms the slopes on the main part.
It turns out this kind of blank.
Next, you need to sharpen the blades on sandpaper manually.
The author shanks the file shank with a gas burner and tempers it in engine oil.
So, the main part of the hatchet is ready.
The master decided to make the handle out of steel studs, ordinary, and elongated nuts. An ordinary nut has already been welded to one edge of the hairpin; it will be convenient to hang an hatchet from it. The nuts are screwed onto the handle and both workpieces are welded.
That's all, the tool is ready.
Now you can knock down the slag both in fillet welds and on the surface.
Thanks to the author for a simple but useful workshop tool!
