I had a classic floor lamp, bought by my mother in the Soviet years. However, starters burned out in it. It was not possible to find starters with the necessary parameters, and therefore this design element was gathering dust in our pantry for a long time, because it was a pity to throw it out. In the end, I decided to reanimate him in my own way.
To do this, I needed the following tools:
• pliers,
• screwdrivers,
• wire cutters and a screwdriver indicator.
As well as the following materials:
• two standard cartridges E27,
• two-core copper wire 7 meters 3 mm thick (1.5 meters for the internal wiring of the lamp and the rest so as not to buy an extension cord)
• terminal blocks suitable for the wire size (or ordinary electrical tape),
• two energy-saving lamps with E27 socket
• standard euro plug
• old pvc tablecloth
• two straight clear, colorless, patternless PET bottles
• colorless glue moment (super-glue possible)
The first thing I did. This threw out all the old electrical entrails that were inside the lower bowl of the floor lamp. After that, the floor lamp stand is much easier.
Then I extended a new electrical wiring to the two lamps inside the lamp. To do this, I cut two small 30-centimeter pieces from the main wire. I connected them to the main wire in the upper bowl of the floor lamp using the terminal block. After that, these two wires are inserted into the "horns" of the floor lamp.
After that, I fixed the entire structure to its rightful place.
Further, inside the luminaire bowls, from the previous design, I left only the internal holders, with which I subsequently secured the cartridges.
Around these holders, I passed a simple copper wire so that the cartridge held tightly in them, and twisted its ends, mounting in such an image a primitive, but effective fixing structure. After that, I connected the wire to the cartridges, and secured the cartridges in the fixing structure.
Then I mounted the other end of the wire with a euro plug, a screwdriver-indicator, tested the working condition of the whole structure and screwed in the lamps.
After that, I covered the electrical wiring cup with one of the old “covers” (since my own one was very broken), crowning the old floor lamps, and using a furniture self-adhesive melamine edge and iron, gently glued it to the wiring cup.
Next, I made new shades for the floor lamp. To do this, I cut out two pieces from an old tablecloth, trying not to spoil the pattern, about 25 cm long, with a width of about 25-30 cm, to glue them with an overlap. The base for the shades was two colorless PET bottles, in which I cut the bottom and the top before leaving two cylinders 20 cm high, with a slight narrowing below, so that later they could be inserted into the bowl shades. Then I pasted the pieces of the tablecloth with the help of glue on the cylinders, leaving about 5 mm from the narrowed edge of the cylinders not closed. After the whole structure dried out a bit and fixed, I glued it into the bowl for the ceiling.
After that, the floor lamp acquired a pleasant appearance and a second life.
