At any home locksmith workshop or the garage there will probably be old rusty nuts, bolts, dies and other small metal products that can be used if you clean them from a layer of rust.
There are many special chemical compounds that can cope with this task, but if they were not at hand, you can clean the rusty coating from the surface of small metal products using tools that are usually used for culinary purposes.
First remedy - Coca-cola
To remove rust from the surface, for example, a rusty die, soda is poured into a glass jar, the product is placed in it and the jar is sealed with a lid.
When, after about 30 hours, the die is removed from Coca-Cola and rubbed, the product looks like this:
Coca-cola dissolves rust, but not very effectively. Citric acid, which housewives use in preparing various culinary dishes, copes with it much better.
The second remedy is citric acid
To prepare a rust-removing solution, citric acid powder is poured into a glass jar,
fill it with hot water and stir.
Then the rusty die is lowered into the solution, and the jar is closed.
When, in a day or a little more, a metal product is removed from a jar of citric acid,
then it has the following form:
It can be seen in the photo that citric acid cleaned the surface of the plate from a layer of rust much better than Coca-Cola, although also not perfect.
Third remedy - lemon juice
To clean the surface of the plate from rust with lemon juice, it is better to use a small jar, since lemons are expensive. Juice of two or three fruits squeezed into a jar
Dip the rusty part into it and close it.
Hold the plate in lemon juice, too, a day or a little longer. After it is removed from the can and washed with water, it looks like this:
The photo shows that pure lemon juice cleans rust as effectively as diluted citric acid powder, but, of course, using this expensive tool makes sense only for cleaning the surface of such products, which have no new replacement.
Means Four - Acetic Acid
Concentrated acetic acid can be found in any kitchen. When working with it, it is recommended to use rubber gloves and tweezers, pour the product placed in a glass jar with it very carefully and it is better to do this in a ventilated room. A jar of acid, of course, is hermetically closed for a day or longer.
A plate taken out of acid and necessarily washed with a soda solution looks like this.
The photo shows that there are practically no traces of rust on the product. If you carefully use acetic acid, then it can always be used as an effective home remedy for cleaning rusty surfaces when there are no special ones on hand.
