DIY steering wheel nut

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
This article will be of interest to many craftsmen who often have to loosen the nuts. I am sure that almost each of you had to unscrew a rusted or lapped nut, but at the same time, the thread and the part on which it is wound is simply necessary to keep. There are many ways to do this, both by chemical or thermal exposure, and by mechanical.

In it, the author of the YouTube channel George Kosilov will tell you how to make a powerful nut cracker, or wrench, from the available materials. With this fixtures you can crack a nut even in hard-to-reach places where it is impossible to crawl up with a grinder.

Materials
- Bolt M12
- Old drill 10 mm, steering tip
- Extended nut M12.

Instruments, used by the author.
- Grinder, cutting and cleaning wheels
- Welding machine
- Sander
- Vise
- A screwdriver.

Manufacturing process.
The author begins by preparing the tool body. For him, he will use the old steering tip. The thread on it is already cut, you need to remove the cover, knock out a finger, and cut off the protrusions.

It fixes the workpiece in a vice and cuts off unnecessary elements with a grinder.

The finger flew out without difficulty.

Having cleaned the workpiece, and marking the place for drilling, makes a hole with a diameter of 10 mm.

The author obtained the first part of the case in the form of a ring with a hole. To complete, you need to weld an extended nut with an M12 thread in this way.

The author clamps the details in a vice and very thoroughly boils the seam from all sides.

The author did not show the process of cleaning, grinding and polishing, but it took him about two hours. But what a beautiful foundation it turned out!

Now, a part of the base 35 mm long is cut off from a drill 10 mm in diameter. Then he makes the descent, grinding the place of the cut in two planes, in the manner of a flat screwdriver.

Inserts the ground workpiece into the base and tightens the M12 clamping bolt. The author recommends taking a bolt with a hardness of 8.8. The tool is assembled and ready for testing.

This stud with a rusted nut will be as a test subject.

Putting a tool on the nut, takes two wrenches and begins to tighten the bolt. The effort, according to the author, is not very large. You can see how the smoothly sharpened part of the drill separates the steel.

At this point, the nut burst, and already hangs, it can be unscrewed.

But the author decided to split it on the other hand. Here, of course, the nut broke into two halves.

Please note that the stud thread is not damaged.

Here you can make such a beautiful and useful tool for yourself.

Thanks to the author for an interesting and useful tool that can help in difficult situations!

All a good mood and instrument!
