I have an old Jeep Grand Cherokee. In recent years, I went a little on it. The steering wheel is quite smooth and slippery, especially when I drive with gloves on. I hope that my braid will not only solve these problems, but also make the steering wheel warmer when I drive a jeep with my bare hands. I know you are used to keeping your hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2, or at 9 and 3 hours, but I usually just keep my hands at the bottom of the steering wheel. Therefore, I braided these parts with a paracord. If I like to drive with such a braid, I will braid it all.
You can use the same technique to braid anything. I braided lanterns, as well as skeins of paracord, so that it would not go awry.
Step 1: Getting Started
I started in two different ways. The first method I changed, because he did not hold the loop tight. The way I used the left part of the lace is the second attempt.
Step 2: Wrap
The paracord is pulled together, and you can start repeating loops (see the photo).
Step 3: Continued
Continue to braid the steering wheel in this way. The weave texture is very reminiscent of bracelets with weaving “cobra”.
Step 4: Compress the nodes together.
It is necessary to tighten the loops to each other as tight as possible so that the weaving becomes tight and does not diverge to the sides.
Step 5: Finish
I did not take good pictures for this step. But I fixed the end of the paracord according to the same principle as the initial edge. I inserted the edge into the last node, it was “trapped”, so to speak. Then I just cut and soldered the edge.
