Do it yourself it is very simple to make a terrarium for flowers and other plants that can do without water for a long time. The terrarium for succulents turns out to be beautiful, it will become a real decoration of your summer cottage!
We will need:
- drill, drill for glass;
- silicone gun;
- protective gloves, glasses;
- a large glass jar, brush, fabric mesh;
- white sand, soil, perlite;
- coal for gardening, pebbles or its analogue;
- colored sand, sphagnum;
- pebbles and figurines for decoration.
Step 1
In a glass jar, make holes in the corners of about 4 mm deep, and also in the middle of the lid. Rinse the jar with soap, get rid of all labels, if any.
Step 2
Rinse pebbles, dry it, mix with garden charcoal. Thanks to garden coal, dirty water in the terrarium will be filtered. Next, mix white sand and soil (1 :! ratio), add a small amount of perlite, although you can do without it.
Step 3
Coal with pebbles will serve as a layer of the drainage level so that the flowers in the water do not rot. Pour a mixture of sand and soil into a jar, then pebbles with coal. Be sure to place a mesh between the first and second layer - then water will drain to the bottom of the can.
Step 4
Place the necessary plants inside the terrarium and move on to the decor. Here you can show your imagination in all its glory! Just keep in mind that the roots of succulents do not really favor light, add less water.
Step 5
Take care of the light source. It is better to use mini-bulbs (LEDs) on solar panels. To do this, pass the lamp through the central hole, attach it with a silicone gun.
Step 6
And finally, a few words about the operation of the finished terrarium for succulents. Water needs to be updated every week. Place the terrarium in a well lit area. After each watering, it is better to open the lid of the can for a couple of days so that the humidity decreases.
