A small fireplace will create a wonderful atmosphere for intimate conversations in the gazebo, which we use in summer to relax. In addition, it provides the comfort we need so much, and everything else is environmentally friendly. Such a miniature fireplace is very simple to make. do it yourself in a very short period of time. And the materials that are necessary for the manufacture of our fireplace are also required quite a bit.
What we need
• 4 glass coatings used in frames for photographs, the size of which is A4
• Silicone sealant
• Construction, with small cells, mesh. You can also take a barbecue net
• Small pebbles
• Metal box
• Firewood or charcoal
• Flax or hemp tape used for burning
• Solvent, acetone is best.
• Piece of fabric
• Adhesive tape, which is used for painting.
• Cardboard with a very dense structure or film
• Matches that are used when lighting a fireplace.
Step 1
From the frames for photos you need to remove the glass, from which we will collect the edging for the fireplace. In the case of the removed glass, we primarily process (wipe) the edges in those places that will be intended for gluing.
Step 2
Next, we glue the masking tape on the glass, but at the same time leave free the places where gluing will take place. This is necessary in order to protect them from excess silicone.
Step 3
Then you need to re-wipe the places in which bonding will take place with a soft cloth.
As a result of this, they will be much better defatted and this will create a better adhesion of our parts. An even, fairly hard surface must be covered with thick cardboard, but you can also take a film for this purpose. The surface should be even and solid in order to avoid distortions of the parts to be glued, and we cover the work surface with cardboard or film to prevent our glasses from sticking to the table surface.
Step 4
In order to connect the glass to each other by gluing, you need to use a silicone sealant. It is necessary to apply it by extruding from the tube in a strictly even line and in no case should it be smeared, but left in the form in which it was extruded.
Step 5
Next, take the next glass, and firmly press the desired side to the strip of sealant. With proper bonding, our sealant will evenly appear on both sides of our glass.
After in a similar way we have connected all the sides of the glass edging for the fireplace, you need to remove the excess, protruding around the edges, part of the sealant. This is done either with a finger or using a spatula for this purpose. This must be done before the sealant has completely dried, but very carefully, in order to avoid the displacement of the glass, which can happen when pressed hard. Having completed all the above steps, you can safely remove the sticky masking tape.
Step 6
After all the steps we have taken, we can safely proceed directly to the assembly of the box itself. We have prepared a box of metal, which must be treated with a degreasing liquid and wiped with a clean cloth.
The lower part of the glass edging made by us needs to be sealed with adhesive masking tape, and a sealant is applied to its edge, then the glass edging is installed on the sides of the metal box and pressed down strongly.
Step 7
Next, we put the product in order by removing the excess sealant protruding along the edges and peel off the masking tape.
Step 8
The metal mesh prepared by us in advance must be cut to the size of the box of the fireplace itself. At the base we install linen or hemp tape, which is used for combustion. We cover the entire structure with a lattice, and lay out small pebbles on it.
Prepared fuel must be placed in the base of the fireplace, which can be not only firewood and coal, but also liquid combustible biological mixtures. These biological mixtures can be ordered in online stores, or purchased in a store that sells fireplaces, as well as materials related to them.
Step 9
Then you can light our wick, which is represented by linen or hemp tape, and we can with a sense of accomplishment enjoy all the charm of our new miniature fireplace.
