Light all-terrain vehicle "Irene"


When creating this all-terrain vehicle, the author tried to make it as narrow as possible, in order to drive along the old URZ, that is, ideally 1.2 meters were planned, but the result had to be expanded. Also, special attention was paid to the mass of the all-terrain vehicle, all-terrain vehicle should have been easy even to the detriment of patency.

Installing the steering and mounting the front suspension of the all-terrain vehicle turned out to be quite difficult, it is planned to replace it with a beam with pins from a classic vase:



Initially, from the start of construction, the author planned to make a motorcycle landing on an all-terrain vehicle; for this, a seat from a motorcycle and a tank with a drop from Java-Kovrov were purchased.


On a lathe, a star with 11 teeth was made specifically for the needs of an all-terrain vehicle drive:



The gearbox has been disassembled, and the differential is brewed:


The axis is made of a pipe measuring 35 by 5, which is mounted in the rear hubs of the VAZ 2109, the bearings are pulled together with a pin:

A tire from gas-66 was prepared for the front axle of an all-terrain vehicle, contains 4 layers and weighs about 14 kilograms, the rubber turned out to be very soft:


A front disc was made with homemade 18-inch rims. The inner rim was welded to the brake drum from a wheelchair, and fixed to the hub with standard studs m 10 in the amount of four pieces. The width of the disk turned 25 centimeters:




About 30 kilometers without tire pressure were covered for the test, the tire did not suffer, the tires are flattened to 60 cm.

It turns out the width of the all-terrain vehicle along the frame is 74 centimeters, and if the wheels are all 180 centimeters, which is quite a lot, but acceptable. It was also decided to expand the front axle to 170 centimeters in order to increase the angle of rotation of the wheels. This is necessary so that they do not rest against the frame of the all-terrain vehicle. Also, this solution is suitable for installing the rail in a more convenient position.

The rear axle was shifted 40 centimeters closer to the engine, and it is also planned to install bearing bearings.


Hub flanges were welded and seals were installed, that is, preparations were made for installing wheels on an all-terrain vehicle:

tests were carried out on marshy terrain, as can be seen from the video the all-terrain vehicle fails, but only 20 centimeters, yet the low weight of the structure has a positive effect on cross-country ability. The installation of tubeless rubber specifically for overcoming such routes is also considered.

The reason was a typical error, which is that the bearing axis should be as close to the wheel axis as possible. This can be done with the help of a spatial triangle, that is, a pyramid at the top of which the bearing will be located. But the pyramid should be directed towards the wheel.

The axis of the first irin was lengthened to 150 centimeters:

Further, the airin project was subjected to major modernization.

Was assembled gearbox from Luaz with differential lock. the locking mechanism itself was moved from the rear axle without any changes, but the original guide of the locking inclusion rod was made.

A plug was installed in place of the left half shaft, which can be used as a side PTO, it depends on the engine and wheels.

The engine also underwent modernization: the rear wall of the engine was cut off, and a support from the motor-tug was inserted into the hole of the main bearing, and a variator was installed in this bearing support.

From the shank of the ZM drive there is a driveshaft to the front winch. Locking the main gear in the gearbox allows the winch to be used synchronously with the rear wheels, as well as independently of each other.

The front suspension was recreated. The calipers are located in front, and the bipods are directed upwards, the steering tip is also inserted from above:

However, after reflection, an error was noticed. Such a spring mount is extremely unreliable.
Therefore, two springs will be installed downstream, which will be drilled for attachment to the paw. The springs were taken specially thinner so that there were no jumps in the suspension, but a smooth ride.

Work was done on the bodice 190. the generator is attached with one ear, the tensioner is not on the right, although it should be there as standard. But for now, the author decided to consider a 53A generator for his all-terrain vehicle. He began to make him cuts and tensioner. The possibility of replacing the compressor with a power steering pump is being considered.
