Greetings to all fishermen and lovers of crafting something from nothing.
After catching some good specimens of fish, our homemade kukan from a bicycle knitting needle seemed not reliable enough. Since each fisherman seeks to catch a larger trophy, we will make a kukan worthy of him. This kukan can also be used as a jaw grab.
You can watch a video about making a kookan here.
Tools needed.
1. Vise.
2. Pliers.
Materials required.
1. Steel spring wire Ø 3-4 mm.
2. The spring.
To make a cook, you need approximately 0.5 m of steel spring wire Ø 3-4 mm.
First you need to bend the kukan spring. Mark the center of the wire and wrap it around the bar or cut the pipe. The spring wire does not bend very willingly, you will have to make a lot of effort.
We help ourselves with pliers, a vise and a strong word.
The dimensions of the kookan are taken from the head, so that everyone can do as they wish.
We mark 7 cm from the spring and bend the ends of the wire to meet each other. It is important to calculate and bend all the bends at the first attempt, it will not work to bend, the spring wire does not forgive mistakes.
We retreat from the spring of 5 mm in each direction, mark the places of the next bends and bend the wire until the edges converge in the center.
We mark 10 cm and bend the hooks.
We bite off too much.
To increase the reliability of the cook we install a spring lock.
Cook is ready.
If you remove the spring lock, then kukan can be used as a maxillary grip.
All good, good luck in work and no tail or scales.
