Hello, friends the inhabitants of our site and site visitors! I want to bring to your attention another homemade product that I made from an old rolling key, with which we usually roll cans of pickles for the winter. I got two tools - a small clamp and a screwdriver. Moreover, no special tools for their manufacture will be required. To do this, we need an old non-working sealed key, which we usually throw away.
To make this homemade product we will need the following materials and tools.
1 - a sealing key, a screwdriver, pliers, a hammer, a small chisel.
2 - vice, electric sharpener, fine sandpaper, 2cm cambric with a diameter of 1cm or the same amount of heat shrink tube, 10cm core with a diameter of 5mm.
We assemble as follows.
Step 1. We take a sealing key, it is shown in the photo. We disassemble it by unscrewing the two screws located on the handle of the key. Disconnect the handle of the key from the cover. Using a chisel or emery, remove the lower mount of the textolite head to the metal key cover. That's what we got
Step 2. Then we take the g-shaped bracket into which the handle of the key was screwed, and bend in a vice the second (not bent) end of the bracket at an angle of 90 degrees, as shown in the photo
We clean the resulting bracket with a fine emery cloth, remove rust and dirt from it.
Step 3. We take a bolt with a M10 thread 9 cm long, in its upper part we drill a through hole with a diameter of 5 mm.
We insert a metal rod of the same diameter into this hole, and on both sides we flatten the ends of the rod on the anvil of the vice so that it does not pop out of the bolt when it is twisted.
Step 4. We screw this bolt into the threaded hole of the curved plate, which was already in it, and we got a small clamp
The bolt must be threaded to its entire length. This clamp is convenient to clamp the heads of poorly twisted bolts, or other small objects.
Step 5. We take the handle of the key, grind on the emery wheel the unnecessary part of the metal rod, grind the side surfaces of the rod - and we get a good slotted screwdriver.Its dimensions are as follows - the length of the rod is 3.5 cm and the width is 8 mm. Not always in our work we need long screwdrivers, sometimes small ones are useful. At the end of the screwdriver shaft we put on a piece of cambric with a diameter of 1 cm, or the same piece of heat-shrink tubing to close the thread on the shaft. These two tools can be made from a regular seaming key. So do not rush to throw out the things you do not need.
