Today we will consider the project, as the author organized a free watering of the garden using. As a basis, a small 220V centrifugal engine was used, which the author redid for 24V. And the whole thing is powered by a solar panel. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study it in more detail!
Materials and tools used by the author:
Material List:
- centrifugal pump for 220V / 380 Watt;
- 24V / 350 Watt electric motor;
- (the author has 400 watts);
- cardan transmission from the steering auto.
Tool List:

- welding machine, grinder, drill (if necessary).
Manufacturing process homemade:
Step one. Motor connection
To get started, remove the back cover of our outdoor pump, there is an impeller, you need to remove it too. We install the pump on a wooden board, and also install a 24V electric motor nearby. Now we need to connect the shafts, for these purposes, the author used a cardan drive from the steering wheel of the car. Usually such transmissions are on UAZ.
We fix one side of the cardan to the pump shaft, and the other to the motor shaft. Of course, the diameter of the shafts will vary, you will need to make bushings from pipes or a similar material.
If there is no cardan transmission, you can just find a piece of a sturdy rubber hose, it will also perfectly transmit torque.
Step Two Connection
We take the pump out to the street and install it near the well. Next, through the switch and fuse, we connect the solar panels. The author has two panels that give out 400 watts at a voltage of 24V.
Step Three Launch
To start the pump, you need to fill the aquifer with water, connect the pipe and turn on the pump. Of course, it will not work at full capacity, as power may be weak, but in general, if the well is not very deep, the scheme should work. The author succeeded, the garden is now watered by the sun.This is a great option if there is no way to connect to a 220V network.
