Hello to all lovers of craftsmanship, we will make today a small, but stylish and comfortable kitchen table. The table is made quite simply, the countertop is made of boards that are pulled together with threaded rods and also glued together. To give the material a beautiful look, the author burned the boards to highlight the texture. The legs of the table are made of square shaped pipe. The process of making a table:
Step one. Boards
First of all, we will prepare the boards, they all need to be cut to the same length, and the cut should be at right angles. For cutting, the author used a tape cutting machine, but you can handle it with a hacksaw, if everything is correctly marked out.
In addition, it is advisable to ensure that the boards are not curved and have approximately the same thickness. However, for this style, the countertop does not have to be perfectly even.
Step Two Frame
We assemble the frame for the table; for its manufacture, the author used square shaped pipes. Only two pipes are used as legs, between which jumpers are welded. To make the table stand confidently, we weld to the legs as a basis a plate of thick sheet steel. In the upper part, you also need to weld the plates and drill holes for attaching the countertops.
Step Three Countertop Making
We proceed to the manufacture of countertops so that the structure is very strong, you need to drill holes across the boards that will allow the boards to be pulled together with threaded rods. The author performs such work on a lathe.You can collect everything on furniture dowels, the design will also be quite reliable.
When everything is ready, we install threaded rods, and apply joiner glue to the joints of the boards. We tighten the entire structure and leave to dry.
Step Four Wood processing
To make the boards look beautiful, we burn them with a gas burner. During the firing process, all soft fibers should burn out, as a result, dense fibers will remain, which will form a beautiful texture.
After firing, the author poured water on the table and cleaned it well with a wire brush, thereby removing all soft fibers. Well wash the countertop and leave to dry.
When the countertop dries, we saturate the wood with oil or polish it with wax, everything looks delicious.
Step Five Assembly
We are assembling a table, for this you need to screw the legs to the countertop. You can use self-tapping screws to attach the countertops to the frame.
